OSB.. I think your response is meant relative to this thread which is targeted specific to JH and at our more senior members.

This thread is just the general "Older" thread....... a faux pas perhaps which I suspect confirms your eligibility!!!

At the moment this nothing like the Jimmy Hill revolution, you had to be part of it to know that. Hill joined in 1961 and for the rest of that season we just ticked along, but did improve from the Kings Lynn debacle, then the summer came and Robins gave JH £30000 to spend and Hill bought Sillett, Willie Humphries, Hugh Barr, Jimmy Whitehouse, Terry Bly and Bobby Laverick, changed the kit to Sky Blue and the football bug bit. First game of the following season was v Notts County before a gate of 22000, a massive increase. We were up and down that season but had a great cup run before losing to Manchester United in the quarter finals, the previous match home to Sunderland drew an official gate of 42000 but it was obvious many thousands more were there, gates were broken down at the kop end, fans sat around the pitch, on roofs, up the floodlights etc, etc. Away support became massive and 5000 traveling fans was the norm. Jimmy Hill the football manager was a one off and i loved every minute of his stay here, but i wouldn't of built a statue to him for other reasons which get conveniently forgotten.
