Question about rent (1 Viewer)

With the city almost divided over this rent row - it's too high / it's not too high / they should pay it / they should stand their ground - can anyone tell me what exactly the rent pays for? One of the arguments raised by Mark Robins was that the players can't train there without it going through a load of red tape first. So do we assume that no-one from CCFC is allowed on to the pitch unless it's on a matchday? (Bearing in mind the club also pays £10,000 per home match on top of the rent). I presume the club shop and club offices are factored into the rent but what else? Exactly how much of the Ricoh Arena are they paying for? If we knew this we might at least be able to make better informed opinions on whether the rent's too high or not . . .

The rent isn't the issue-indeed nor is access to matchday revenues. What Jan seems to be saying is that the club is now disputing payment of its accrued arrears (i.e. the money they've boycotted paying since last April) because they see the last rent agreement as 'unlawful'.

Just a thought - why did they not even turn up at court last December if they thought that, or are they making it up as they go along.

...you could add who pays for the policing, the stewards, the match day staffing, the lighting, the heating, the undersoil heating, the pitch maintenence and other sundry items? Is that within any or part of the 10k match day cost being paid?
Who pays liability insurance, cleaning staff (toilet blocks etc), who pays the council tax?

Then there's parking rights, the shop, offices, signage, the bloody window cleaner!
You get my drift? It's a bloody mess created by a council who have not got a clue. They form ACL, a lease, a sub lease (and a crazy one at that) franchise agreements, contracts with all and sundry and have staff to pay at ACL, profit to make, loans to repay to the council who bail them out. My goodness there's even a charity involved somewhere in all of this mess.

Far be it to think of drawing up ownership rights to the Ricoh as a simple option eh? Why does local government have to have anything to do with it after the original distress was satisfied when they rescued the stadium build in the first place with tax payers money...yes the taxpayers money who are also CCFC fans and supporters.

The more I think about it whenever a council get involved we are always heading down the wrong pathway. They simply don't have the commercial acumen.

How are you judging success, by the fact they have a profit?

It hasn't failed but you nor I really know whether its being run to the best of its ability.

Why do we keep going round in circle with one side being great and one side being crap. All the evidence points to all parties being equally inept.

I think Sisu do have business acumen. But not in the realm of football, where they are totally clue less. If this wasn't a football club they would have probably bullied their way through this. But there is more about a club. The fans, the sentiment, the badge. They can't get their own way.

Sadly is our landlords who (despite obviously having their own interests) appear to care more about the club than the owners.
