Back to basics for this. The players on the team sheet need to be the ones that are going to scrap from the first minute. We cannot afford any passengers.

This is where the problems start. Defence I am at a loss with. They are all (particularly Kitching) making so many mistakes at the moment I am genuinely not sure what to do. I want to check myself into a rehabilitation centre because I'm actually considering throwing Latibeaudiere in. I would also pick a different LB, but what are the realistic options? Striker is also an issue. I think we have a problem deciding between Wright and Simms, both of which have a habit of putting in poor performances when the going gets tough.

The one thing we can solve is the midfield. I want to see a 3 of Grimes, Eccles, and Torp. The latter should play the most attacking out of all of them, but it should be a 3.

We need to see a reaction here. I want to see blood and guts. As the old saying goes. Must win!

Rushworth
MVE-Thomas-Kitching-JDS
Grimes-Torp/Eccles
Esse-Rudi/Eccles-EMC
Wright

Drop the 2nd CM deeper to close the gaps in the midfield. Having a midfield at 10 rather than BTA will also add support in there.

If we don't go mad with the tactics we should have far more than enough,

Looking forward to this and will be on a train from cove sometime between 9am and 10am on Saturday.

I’m still pissed off from last night. We haven’t won away since November and looks like we’re back to giving teams 2 goals so defeat for me.

However I hope the players are angry and come out and give a statement performance. Of which we know we’re capable of.

An extra body in midfield is definitely needed. I’m amazed it didn’t happen last night, even at half time.

A horrible horrible feeling in my gut that this might be a ‘wheels come off’ performance. I hope to god I’m wrong.

Lose 2-1, confidence low. Hope he plays 5 at the back for a change.

Cant see anything here. We have a good record at Loftus Road but if he sets us up the same with space for Icon of the seas to be in the middle then we lose again

Just out of interest who would your back 5 be , I would like to see 3 centre halves of Kitching, Wolfenden and Thomas with Mve and Jds . Would also like to see us bin off the long throws or at least not be so reliant on them

I think differently here, think we can bounce back and this is the place to do it. They'll be shot to pieces after the Wrexham win. Need to shore it up in midfield and bring Sakamoto/eccles in, if Oneyka is over the line by then get him in.

Think last night was on the cards with how quick and powerful Norwich are in transition, exploited the HUGE gaps in midfield that have appeared for weeks. It's not a collapse by any means, but as long as we stay in those top 2 and make the home games count we'll be ok. I'd also like our centre halves to play like centre halves, back to basics like the two centre halves for them last night strong, physical, commanding.

How I’d set us up.

Back five to try and add additional cover and force the pivot up the pitch. Eccles to give some bite in midfield. If onyeka has signed, start him there.

Our wingers don’t seem to want to track back so fine, let’s keep them high and play off the counter like we did at Pompy away.

Wish we had another leftsided CB as Kitching is out of form but got no option.

Same for Lwb (was tempted to put KKH here).

Last night was fucking horrible and we need to take the time between this morning and Saturday afternoon to have a rethink of how we're going to approach the final third of the season and try to set up more pragmatically when we're playing away.

I have complete faith that Lampard and his team can turn our current tough patch around - we changed system last season to great success - what worries me is whether or not anything will change.

I echo the sentiments above; a midfield three of Torp, Grimes and Eccles will be the foundation for a more successful day. If we see the same XI and/or shape as we did last night, it's going to be another tough afternoon.

Eccles in for BTA, Sakamoto for Esse

Maybe even KKH for Dasilva.

Have Eccles sit deeper than usual in the 10 and prepared to drop in to help Grimes/Torp

3 ATB and I'd do this for every away game from here on in. Carry on with the kamikaze approach at home as long as we keep picking up points:

Rushworth
Pick 3 out of the 4 CBs out of a hat. (Thomas and Eccles were awful last night, Lati is Lati, and fuck knows what is going on with Woolf )
MVE, Grimes, Eccles, Dasilva
Sakamoto, Wright, EMC

Issue with that is unless the full backs or Eccles push higher the front 3 comes isolated

45mins up the M3 for me, looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time.

Silver lining is I'm taking my lucky charm 15yo daughter.
All her games so far are high scoring and great come-backs:

Leicester h 3-1
Sheff U h 2-2
Stoke h 3-2
QPR h 7-1
WBA h 3-2

Lampard must at least be having a conversation with Edwards and Co about a back 5 on Saturday. Of course 3 points is the most desirable of outcomes, but a clean sheet and a solid defensive performance has got to be a close 2nd.

Draw. Won’t be expecting anything better from any of our remaining away fixtures.

Expect a reaction after last night, will be worried if there isn’t and the gaping hole in the centre of the park isn’t addressed.

2-0 City. With Boro and or Ipswich dropping points.

Esse and EMC need a talking to. JD and MVE are basically on their own when teams attack us on a counter. Midfielders leave gaping holes if they get across to help. You can get away with it somewhat with MVE because of his running but JD is struggling.

Lats in midfield again? Don't think that's our direction here. Wright was unlucky not to score as was EMC. We don't need different defenders necessarily we just need to keep it together and go back to getting a clean sheet! 2-0 Coventry.

Let's be harder to beat away from home.
3 in midfield, wing backs more conservative. Trust our wingers and forwards to do their job.

Our captain is having a wobble at the worst possible time. Is he undroppable, looks like he needs a reset to me?

Ipswich will spank Preston at home, the form they’re in and I think Boro will be too much at home to Norwich. Best we can hope for there is a draw.

Think both will win but if not, Boro draw and Ipswich win.

He's completely isolated and overwhelmed. We are playing to his weaknesses rather than his strengths. He lacks pace and physicality and likes players around him to interact with.
It's daft.

Agree apart from Id drop Grimes for Torp as we don't need 4 centre halfs

Agreed on the points raised. I’d expect both of the wingers to play a bit more narrow as well since both naturally cut inside more and would have more space in the middle.
