Only took missing him for so long (and a lack of adequate replacement) for some to realise quite how good-and in particular quite how important-he is!

Agreed. But it’s a lot easier to forgive a mistake when we win.

Thought we were ok today but we were playing poor opposition. Feel for Wilson conceding again due to poor defending. Awesome save kept us in the game and a good save in the second half. Deserved a clean sheet. Defensively, we are not where we were last year and look dodgy on crosses prticularly from our left. Lati better defensively down our right against a tricky player. Fadz business as usual apart from the Van Basten shot near the end. Booked again due to poor communication. Binks muscled out of it for their goal but good otherwise. Worried that Thomas made a mistake again that means they should have had a pen. Needs to sort his lapses of concentration out. Eccles pretty good, a lucky deflected goal. Kelly I watched closely and he does take the easy sideways or backwards pass too often, but was ok. We need a like for like sub when he tires. We need subs who can relieve our defensive midfield. Allen made a difference today and was MOM in the second half. Godden worked hard and was unlucky when Lati stopped his shot and his header that was off target. Simms, business as usual first half snatching or delaying chances then two good strikers goals. Hadji is where Simms was snatching at chances. Ayo again showed he is a class footballer but needs to toughen up. I am not going to get excited about winning at QPR as that match could have been a Cardiff repeat if we had conceded in the first half. Need to beat Blackburn which will be a real test of our progress before bogey side Norwich.

Whoever he was marking he would hunt down relentlessly, just watch the Cup Final where he never gave Hoddle a second. I remember him doing the same at WHL in a 1-0 win a year or 2 earlier, Hoddle never had a kick all game apart from the odd 2 or 3 from Lloyd.

Thoughts are with the Eccles haters today. Some won’t like it but he had a decent enough game yesterday. Because we didn’t sign another midfielder in the summer and because he’s an academy graduate, some will say he’s not up to it.

Cov kid playing every week in the championship and getting better all the time. Much better in a solid 3 with Allen in there as well.

I think since he got in the team he's been pretty much the only consistently good player. Kitching has a job on his hands to take him out the team.

Played at his football camps a few times as a boy. Was upset at not scoring and he said to cheer up as he only scored 4 in over 200 games!

I must’ve seen a couple of those. I have vague memories of a blaster from the edge of the area…although again I may be mistaken…and an audacious lob over Ray Clemence at Wembley….

Couldn’t make it yesterday unfortunately, just wondering if anyone can give me an update on how Godden and Wright looked? Any improvement on the previous game from either??

Godden v quiet game bar one header and a one on one which he should have done better with. Simms took two chances well but also missed a couple. For his height and size he isn't as dominant as he should be, but the brace should be a lot better for his brace going forwards. Allen was the main difference, makes us a lot less static in tye middle. Also for his height did very well in the air yesterday

Godden was better yesterday I thought. Had some decebt touches, nice pieces of link up and made some good runs. The one on one should've done better with but was flagged offside anyway.

I thought Godden and Simms looked to be developing an understanding, other than Simms eagerness to go it alone and frustrating Godden on a couple of occasions. Now Simms has broken his duck, perhaps he will look for Godden in the box occasionally.

From what I've heard it isn't necessarily that left hand spot that is Kitching's long term

Yeh I did wonder if he could slot into the middle tbf, but then I heard we still had eyes on Brekalo too so fuck knows.

I’m still convinced Brekalo would be a great signing, I know it’s all gut instinct and intuition bollocks etc but I just think he looks like a solid defender who has the confidence to try a pass and go forwards at times. Really hope we’re still interested in him.

The main difference between the recent disjointed performances and yesterday was Allen.
Very influential, especially second half.

The posts over the summer about him being let go were always going to be wide of the mark. He’s a key player for us.

Binks is proving to be a top defender, yes he boobed a bit in the build up to their goal but he’s been really good the last three games.
Wonder if he or Kitching will play centre of the back three when McFadz comes out, be interesting.

I don't have a problem with McFadz sexual preference but to be fair to Binks that was quality play from their Armstrong in the build up
