Always a shame to lose someone truly iconic. Pele and Maradona were Gods of the game.

Playing them the right way. Beat their press and hit them quickly when they’re out of possession. Nothing we couldn’t have done.

I think USA have shown more attacking intent this match. Should have had 1 goal. Definitely leaving more space for the Dutch to run into though.

Could easily have been winning if Pusilic had scored.

Why so critical of that England performance? The middle group game when you have won the first 6-2 no need to bust a gut just make sure you don't lose. Stats say England did the best of any team in the groups, cut them some slack

That was a pretty mild comment compared to the calls for Southgate's head during/after our game. Also for a knock out stage match probably this is true. Just not in the position we were in.

Just don’t think it was a good performance. And the players seem to agree. I think you’re right we probably played for the draw, just saying we could have beaten them if we needed to with similar tactics.

Think it's perfectly reasonable to suggest we were poor against the USA . Not sure why people struggle to say it , here we go ... we were fucking shit against the USA

Agreed wasn't a great performance and certainly not fun to watch but got the job done. Like that dull game Vs Scotland in the Euros.

Don't think you can judge a middle group game where neither team really needed to win against a knockout game.

Also don't think USA are playing that badly. Just lacking a finisher

The fucking audacity, you thoughtless maniac.

Imagine Cov beating Wrexham 6-2, and moaning because we drew 0-0 with Harrogate afterwards.

Not sure you can say a middle group game isn't a game you need to win ?

What if we lost that ?

There's no guarantee we beat Wales as the USA drew with Wales..

I'd rather get the job done first , then relax like Brazil last game

This. Much better to win your first two and not need anything from the final game.

What I can't understand is how people still think USA are utter shit. They clearly aren't. They press, they are full of energy and are good on the break. Dull as it might be #1 priority in that match was don't lose. England should have won but by about 50 mins it was pretty clear they weren't going for it. Job done.

Yanks knocking on the door, Dutch playing on the break and there's the second

Ok now I accept the Dutch are playing this game the right way. Still not too concerned.

We had won the 1st game 6-2 a draw meant only a 4-0 loss to Wales would cause us any bother regardless of any other results. They knew what they were doing

Yanks just aren’t technically good enough to break teams down. Rely on athleticism and pressing but if they can’t do that they’ve got no idea and leave gaps at the back.

This US team gets alot of praise , which I find strange, lost to Costa Rica, Japan, Canada, drew with Saudi Arabia and el Salvador in 2022 ...

Shit is harsh they have had more than 1 excellent opportunity. They are naive and have fecking Tim Ream at CB.

Pulasic should definitely have buried his chance
