Shouldn’t be conceding against these. Maguire absolutely found out for their first. Where was he going?

Lovely going forward and I’ll take the win but not great defensively.

Came off dazed didn't he. I'll give him a pass on that one. It is a bit of a worry though. Sadly we'll have to use two holding players to protect the defence if we come up against a top team.

FIFAs answer to all the stop the clock talk?!

I'm all for it (unless) England are 1 nil up) might stop blatant time wasters

If you're going to do that, just stop the clock. Makes it far more accountable as you can see exactly whats happening. Even if they play 14mins injury time it might not be accurate.

The odd thing being so much injury time, but apart from i think 1 game, no added time after that - so 14 minutes from the 45, but nothing extra on the 14 - where you may expect another 5 minutes at that rate

Agreed. Also has he even been playing for United ?! I always saw this as game to get him back up to speed a bit/confidence builder. Played well apart from that goal and was very dangerous at set pieces. Hopefully defensively we’ll be more switched on next game

Also hope Southgate doesn’t go full defensive…five at the back and two sitters but think you’re right, Phillips might be back in for better teams if we play a back four

Seems it's not just the players they've got issues with. So much for all the pre-tournament promises.

Well, how utterly ridiculous. Just given a penalty for an incident that was much, much softer than the Maguire one.

I do actually really hope they clamp down on the shirt tugging and arms wrapped around players. They just need to be consistent though

Look I get if you’re going to start giving those you’ve got to start giving those and then people will stop doing it. But where’s the consistency?????

Am I losing the plot here? That didn't look offside to me?

They need to do this. As with many things in the game, diving being a prime example, just clamp down hard and it will soon stop. If every shirt tug or dive was a yellow card and players were getting suspended all the time managers would make them stop.

Problem is they always seem to bring these things in for major tournaments, would be better to be at the start of a tournament cycle and give players time to get used to the change by applying the same thing domestically.

Haha, are England the only team from GB?
Flipping heck, some of the entitled, partisan toxicity for Wales is a bit unfathomable.
Some of you were very eager to point out that the Rangers/Celtic partisan hatred wasn’t welcome on this forum, but it’s ok to hate the Welsh, the Scottish…the Irish are ok though, cos Big Jack managed them.

Wales are barely a whisper of the team that reached the Semis of Euro 2016, and won’t be much of a threat, so keep it on, lads.

Not sure what their form is usually like, but Saudi Arabia look a lot better than Iran yesterday.
Shows how odd the rankings are. Iran top 20 and Saudi not even in the top 50
