Not that you’d ever have a choice on what GK you want to have pens against, but Lloris would’ve been the last guy Kane wanted to be up against.

Once again though, if Kane’s on the pitch I wouldn’t dream of giving the ball to anyone else.

Biggest mistake we made last night was not shutting down Griezmann.

We can't go into the next tournament with Southgate, he's failed 3 times , he's had his time

Not the most inspiring of lists though is it?

Brendan Rogers 3rd favourite? Get to fuck!

Too soon for both Potter and Howe.

This would have been a good call in about 2007, not now though. He's done at the very top now, wouldn't want him anywhere near the job.

He’s just won a European trophy, wouldn’t say he’s done at the top yet

Would be very happy with Howe, although think he’s on the road to big things at Newcastle.

Always felt foreign managers hearts wouldn’t be in it. Rest of the list is a bit anticlimactic. Also Mourinho is poisonous, damaged goods.

Giroud being Frances all time top scorer shows you how much the games changed, about a million levels below Tierry Henry .

Giroud has more World Cup goals than Henry. Giroud has been better for France than Henry then I guess. Henry and France finished bottom of the group in 2002. Tbf they had the mighty Senegal and Denmark in their group.

With regards to Maddison it’s a shame he wasn’t used but I think it’s more down to him either not being fully fit or available at all for the group stage. At that point so many came in and scored, created and generally excelled. Once that happened it was difficult to not play them when given the opportunity. It’s not Maddison’s fault he was injured and it’s pure bad luck it came at that point. A victim of circumstance. The ones I’m finding a bit mor strange are Gallagher and to a lesser extent, Coady.

Ignoring the fact Henry won both the WC and Euro with France

I guess you're right , Henry wasn't as good for France as giroud , but a million times the player still

Messi has a chance to win this world cup , your dream is still alive

The relegation in the Nations League or whatever it's called seems to get downplayed too - doesn't it mean that England would then have to play a 'top tier' team during qualification games in future?

We’ve got Italy in the qualifiers in March, was that the result of relegation?

It won’t be that hard as it’s 48 teams in it next time - even Italy should make it through

I'm sure I read somewhere that Europe only gains 3 more spots though. Not sure if that's enough to do away with playoffs and just have top 2 from each group qualify.

could also be down to the fact that our top division is full of foreign managers. A quick look at the likes of France, Germany, Italy etc suggests that's not the same elsewhere. therefore if those nations are looking for a new manager the chances of them even considering a foreigner are low

if the top nations aren't going into tournaments with foreign managers then you're unlikely to get winning teams who have foreign managers

so that leaves us in a position where we either pick from Howe (who I wouldn't be against), Lampard, Potter or O'Neil or look to a non English manager

Maddison could have been the difference maker but given he’s not been involved in the squad prior to this tournament it was always an uphill battle. Think he could become more involved ahead of Euro 2024.

Gallagher was a bizarre one. Coady I think was taken more for his cheerleading capabilities - with a 26 man squad you won’t have everyone play so don’t want those upsetting the camp.

What possible qualities does Eddie Howe have to be an England manager?

Worst performance of last eight = failure? Wow. You must want Robins out half the time!
