I’ve got no anger or malice at all.

We just didn’t quite make it.

I’ve been very supportive of Southgate because of his tournament record but I think it’s time we let someone else do it.

They play totally different roles TBF. Kane is basically a number 10 for England. Giroud is on the end of everything in the box.

Thats not how Kane started when he came through, he was a proper number 9. I dont know whether its instructions, or because he's captain he feels like he needs to get involved but does play like a number 10.

Southgate should be given the plaudits for getting us to a world cup semi and a euro final, he will rightly point to the fact that it's taken the world champions to knock us out but it's time for a change, don't ask me who but we need someone who can give these talented players the confidence to win a game like this.

Talks us down so much like we’re a L2 side playing against a Prem team. Like Neville said maybe that’s true in the pay but we’ve got the quality to go toe to toe with anyone these days.

No normally but a second one against his club goalie?

Exactly! I really felt that he just would not score, because he thought he had to do something different, as Lloris knows him inside out.

Southgate’s plaudits should come from turning a disorganised unmotivated mess into an international threat.

He has his deficiencies but he has made us proud of this team again and that should be his legacy.

Now give it to a man that can take us to the next level.

So many factors made that a horrible pen for Kane to take. Already taken 1, against his team mate who is the captain of the opposition, the weight of the game, it would have made him top scorer for England. The man is always going to step up though, so respect for that.

Would still want him to take it 10 times out of 10 if it happened again.

Thing is, if it’s a carbon copy of the first pen, Loris probably doesn’t save it. Too fast and in the side netting to reach. I agree he thought he had to try something else but he didnt.

We looked the better side when trailing but when France needed to go up a level to take the lead they did. We’re a good side, they’re elite. The ball from Griezman for Giroud was better than anything we did all night.

Southgate has done a solid job but I agree it’s worth trying something new. With the right appointment we should, at worst, stand still. Best case is we go one further than his best results in the two comps.

We played with confidence.

Score that pen and a different game. You can’t manage every event.

But I wonder why did Southgate get the job with minimal experience.

I think the multiple ankle injuries he's had over the years took a toll on the body, not sure if that is why he has tried to adapt his game or something else as did the same at Tottenham and adapted his role.
Last two tournaments I've heard Kane don't look fit or that he looks off the pace said multiple times across the group stages.

2015-2018 Kane was incredible and on another level, still a very good player but he's lost 5-10% of his game for me due to injuries.

Gutted, thought we did very well second half. Kane will get way less greif than the lads who missed in the Euros.

I appreciate Southgate has turned England into a force but I think we need to move on now. Try something new.

The future looks bright player wise plenty of options in attacking areas. Need to fast track some players in at centre back.

And if Kane gave the penalty to someone else and they missed , he’d be called a bottler . France were there for the taking second half , defensively they were very poor they essentially gave 3 penalties away. Saka should of finished the game too

We need a manager who plays to our strengths, which aren’t defensive. Someone who can get the best from the abundance of attacking talent we have.

To be honest, I would have given the pen to the likes of Bellingham.

I honestly don't think Kane would have been labelled a bottler. It was just an option.

Had it not been Kane's own club goalkeeper in goal, then yes, 100% Kane. Every time. But I did say to myself as soon as we were awarded the pen, that maybe Kane shouldn't take that one. I just could sense he was going to miss.

Southgate and Dan Ashworth were responsible for laying the foundations for the way we play and coach nowadays from grassroots up.

He was also under 21s coach.

Same here , I personally would like to see Southgate carry on till the next tournament there’s no other candidates and he has a decent record . My only gripe was giving Jack grealish 2 minutes tonight that was pointless

Tough to fit him in though, everyone wanted Foden to play, Saka has been brilliant and Kane is always going to start.

Yes, but then that in turn was the reason he maybe shouldn't have taken the second one.

There will be no other goalkeeper out there in the world who has faced more pens against Harry Kane than Lloris. They must practise them pretty much every day in training.

Pretty clear that the French players all surrounded Lloris and congratulated him after that miss.

Clear there were some psychological games going on.
