same old story I'm afraid

Seriously, has Eddie Jones left the country yet?

I thought we were excellent throughout the second half and, after a shaky first half, put up much more of a fight than I was expecting.

Why is he bringing sterling on?

I do challenge Southgate massively but the players on the pitch needed to do better. Bottling a penalty, a golden free kick. We are an embarrasment. It is totally our own fault.

Southgate avoided the critics by taking Maddison on holiday.

Not gutted at all to be honest. Too old in the tooth now and seen the same thing so many times. Half expected it.

And this is coming from someone who watched the 1970 World Cup and saw us throw a 2 goal lead against the Germans to lose 3-2.

Too many times now. Just doesn't pain me now so much at all.

So used to it.

Better team at Reading today
Better team v France

Bad day at the office all round.

Going to take the dog for a walk and try and forget it. At least I only have City to worry about for a while.

What a waste. Why bother being away from your young family for 4 weeks?

I said this would happen and people said 'stop being so negative, at least he selected him'.

It was obvious.

Sterling and Mount or Saka and Foden. Just so predictable and so are how we attack with them on the pitch. No invention, nothing unsurprising. Just Chuck the same players in and hope for the best. I can accept it at City when we’ve got 16 decent players in the squad but to not find a way to put a bit of magic in when you’ve got Grealish and Maddison and Wilson who can all offer something the others can’t is pathetic.

It was predictable AF.

He sat at right back when he came on pretty much. Useless.

Fucking joke. We bottled it and missed too many chances. So pissed off supporting this team.

Also bringing Sterling on, why? Some terrible decisions and also missing a penalty like that. We only have ourselves to blame.

Pathetic cunts.

Awful decision taking off Saka for Sterling, Saka was our best player and biggest threat.

Just like the Italy game we're left watching a side celebrate when we should have pasted them. Southgate is simply not the man-time to gracefully exit the stage.

And probably time for Lloris to get a transfer out

From what I read, Maddison is quite frustrated not to have got any game time. And I don't blame him, I know he had that knock before, but the form he's been in he had to be worthy of something somewhere.

Better team, tough loss to take.

Griezmann put in the best cross of the night to win the match.

I'd say he brought him on because he's delivered in big moments for his country.

Very fine margins, feel like we were better. Always worried about the centre backs and I think that's been our weakness tonight.

I am pleased with the performance overall, but we are just not winners are we. That comes from having a winning mentality and I just don't think we have the confidence in ourselves.

Lack the belief.

He hasn't. He isn't very good for England, certainly not in big games. He has also been awol for weeks because of the robbery.

There were better options. He choose his favourites again. It's pathetic.

I've been listening to excuses for England losing the big games for 50 years now, we always come out the wrong side of these games, it's not because we're unlucky.

That’s unfortunately what Southgate brings. He is scared of winning incase we lose.

We just don’t have that killer instinct.

I think it’s time Southgate moves on so someone else can have a go with the same squad.

I’ll always love him for what he’s done for us though.

Oh well , the better team lost tonight , haven't always agreed with Southgate but think he sent them out second half to win that football match and unfortunately we've fell short .

Thanks for your time and effort Gareth, many will remember you as a manager who gave us good times ..

I wish him all the best
