Media reports this morning suggesting Saka back in whilst Henderson retains his place. Foden’s being dropped ain’t he.

Edit: now Talksport reporting Foden will start. That means Rashford missing out? Seems odd.

He’s protecting one of them - see where you are half time and react

We should get the front four pressing hard cos we can replace them all or most of them with just as much as quality later in the game.

Foden is a wide player. Guardiola doesn't play him in the centre and not sure he can play the 10 role at international level. Is Rice injured?

Just going off those rumours. And Foden doesn’t think he’s a wide player. I want Maddison in there TBH. He’s the stand out English AM in the PL.

Was my thoughts in the Euros. Especially the wide players. Got more than enough to run the starters into the ground then freshen up on 60 mins.

Most of these goals were hat tricks against terrible opposition in the group stages.

Cool , don't count then , and his superb copa America record too ?

I mean Messi has scored against absolute power nations in world caps to be fair , not mentioning that yesterday was his first ever goal in a knockout game in 9 attempts

Rashford and Foden should both be starting

Saka can come in for Henderson and play Foden in a free role behind Kane

4-2-3-1
Pickford

Trippier
Stones
Maguire
Shaw

Rice
Bellingham

Saka
Foden
Rashford

Kane

I think the reason Southgate likes saka is because he has defensive capabilities .. if saka comes in mind you we will have potentially 7 defence minded players on the pitch , 8 if you include bellingham

If you needed someone to score against Bolivia or Venezuela, then he was your man, no question.

(I guess my point is that I don’t really see what comparing goalscoring records in international tournament proves in terms of arguing which players were better)

Batistuta was better for Argentina and won more with them .. prove me wrong

Messi as a better footballer ? Sure easily

I guess if you're going to jump on and try argue you need to be ready to accept that 10 goals in 12 WC Games, is better than 9 in 23 , 2 copa Americas is better than 1

Not sure what more to say

Lionel Messi has always been better at club level than he has for Argentina

I just mean it’s all relative - being “better for Argentina” is a fairly meaningless statement if you’re comparing individual players. Argentina fans wouldn’t pick Batistuta over Messi for that reason, so I’m not sure what it proves.

Batistuta achieved more for Argentina, and was better for Argentina than Messi has been ..

Again , prove me wrong .

You want to keep going , we will keep going.

One thing I love about this England squad is:

Rice - Bellingham
Saka - Foden - Rashford

All are gaining valuable experience now and all will be good to go in 4 years time. Many hitting their prime.

We may well miss out now but that is going to be dangerous for years.

I suppose alot of our future lies in who we appoint next as manager , Couple of very good managers out of work that aren't English, depends what we want

Could see that coming as soon as it went three against three. Full back left M'Bape totally on his own.

I think we are going to have to play at the very top of our game in order to beat the French. They have undoubted quality.

It would be pretty ironic for the first bet I win this season is from the World Cup that skewers it. That puts him 2 ahead in the top scorers doesn’t it?
