I've just tried to put a picture in a post. It just won't have it! Is there any other way this can be done without having to go through a URL? I just wanted to put something up that I have on my hard drive, so it doesn't really have a URL address.

You should be able to press attach at the bottom by the post button?

Get an account at a hosting site, I use http://www.servimg.com/ it is free.
Once you upload a picture (watch out for 800px width default too wide for forums IMHO, I always select No or 640/320px) you can get the direct link and use it in posts.
Never hit a usage limit or had anything deleted by site in housekeeping to my knowledge.

I've had an account with Photobucket for years and always used that to post pics on here, but since this new webpage has been here, it won't load them. Anyhoo, as Nick says, just use the "upload file" button.
