Why did Les Reid give publicity to the new group with no membership and only one person fronting it by publishing a leading story in the Coventry Telegraph about a petition and demo but give absolutely no publicity to the elected MP for Coventry NE obtaining a Parliamentary debate on football governance and CCFC, I though he was supposed to be a political journo? He didn't even get an opinion from the Sky Blue Trust, the largest fans body, who are at least run on democratic principles.

Are you saying Mr Reid isn't giving a balanced view ?

Another good question is: why did the press release from the Trust end up on the letters page made to look like a letter from Jan when a blog post from some random ends up as a Les Reid article?

Balance would be a lovely thing wouldn't it?

Jack, I would of thought that was obvious. Les has his own agenda and while there are a fair few ready to eat up his every word, I would suggest there is a growing majority who believe he should stick to reporting the news rather than influence it.

If you check his article history, he's had a fairly obvious anti-council bias for some time. Not surprising as a local journalist, but still relevant.

I don't believe he is any more, I think he's jumped into bed with Joy (metaphorically speaking of course)

Very true. Regardless of the topic, regardless of which party is in control of the council, Les always seems to have an issue with them.

stu, with all due respect do you have any evidence to the contrary? Because posting up a demotivational meme isn't exactly a point we can discuss.

Go and click on his name on the CT website. Well before this story started he's made a bit of a living doing two things: 1) promoting himself (check how many of his articles contain the word "I") 2) council bashing.

Now that's not surprising, most local journalism is council bashing, but it's a point that needs to be taken into consideration when thinking about where he's coming from.

Of course he does council bashing, he's a political journalist, just like Nick Robinson, John Pienaar and every other political journalist does.

Hasn't the cet given the trust lad of publicity as well as the hill? Now it's the other side it's unbalanced?

Actually most of them ask difficult questions of all sides & let the opposition have a right of reply, they don't generally promote one side over the other in such an obvious manner.

@skyblueben @mozccfc1987 @robsummerfield1 @szyq8 Stuart & Rob are doing @CovBackToRicoh campaign with support from others.I fully support it

There you have it - how can he continue to deny he is mostly promoting his own opinion as opposed to reporting? His twitter contains daily digs at anyone who disagrees. I really hope all CCFC fans who think otherwise continue to challenge him and take him down a peg or two.

Who we talking about here Les? He's clearly taking an anti-CCC/ACL stance, but trying to disguise it as a balanced opinion. He should stick to reporting the news, rather than trying to influence it.

Burn him, the heretic.

Whether you like it or not he investigates both sides and now it's the side you support, you don't like it and he's in bed with Joy etc etc. It's another pathetic witch hunt to add to Robins, Pressley, Byng, Cardoza etc etc.

Openly supporting a campaign while taking daily digs at an opposing campaign goes somewhat beyond investigating, no?

Scuppering what - playing in Northampton for 5 years -sounds like you astute etc. want that more than the useless eyesore in Holbrooks having a football team play there.

Sometimes though people and especially football fans have to expect to take when they give. I am not just taking about this situation but people may hammer him and when he has a dig back it is like he has just hopped out of bed with the devil. Remember when kilbane told that fan to f off after he insulted his disabled daughter, how dare he say anything back?

Social media doesn't help, if he posts something people don't agree with they do get personal. This isn't me defending him as to be honest I haven't read all of his tweets but if you want to post on here how corrupt, in bed with sisu or how wonky his parting is then don't have a melt down if he has a dig back at you.

If people want everything to be professional then keep it at that level yourself. Imagine if people are protesting in London with pictures of a muppet calling them joy or other defamatory slogans and joy came out and had a wise crack back. There wouldnt be a spare seat at the cardiac ward at walsgrave with ask the melt downs.

Maybe, but I think the fact he's supporting a campaign that you do not support is making you & others adverse to him. If you watch his Twitter, he always retweets both sides opinions. He's leaning towards this campaign because it the only one, so far, which has the core message of getting City back in Coventry. And it really is the only thing that matter at this point in time.

Woooosh straight over your head Moff

It was sarcasm over the idea les' poll had been hijacked by rival fans (the outcome did not suit certain people.)

Now his journalistic slant doesn't sit well with me, maybe I can suggest Les himself has been hijacked by rival fans........

It's absolutely fair enough if he answers back to those who write stupid abusive stuff (though in his position perhaps he should be more discrete about it) - but he goes further than that, he is constantly taking potshots at people who are voicing their opinion contrary to his own articulately and reasonably, and constantly attempts to lump them in with people who are abusive.

Of course I am annoyed mostly because he's disagreeing with my opinion (and many other fans') but then I'm not the political editor of the main local paper attempting to be one of the main reporters of ccfc news to the public, if he was honest that the twitter is merely a personal one and not the above then fine.

any time Jeremy Vine mentions on his radio station that he worked for the CET he always goes on about how the paper is dying. make's you wonder why when they seem incapable of following popular opinion in the area they cover:thinking about:

Chapter 2 Rival fans sneaking on their retro Cov Tops monitoring the Evening Telegraph then sabotaging polls at will. As they know there is no better way to annoy a Cov fan than a poll that suggests SISU should not be allowed to buy the Ricoh. (Good read that one)

Chapter 4 Andy Thorn turning up to training sessions drunk, top conspiracy that one.

Chapter 5 Kieran Westwood asking for contract talks but not really ever intending to sign.

Chapter 6 Selling your top goal scorer whilst facing a relegation battle at Christmas was in fact an attempt to support the manager.

Talk about over exaggeration. You suggested that the poll was conclusive evidence of what cov fans think, I suggested that rival fans and non cov fan Coventry residents could've accessed the post, plus a number of posters on here have admitted to voting multiple times.
