Interesting, especially after him saying about being scared of Reeves.

The whole thing is essentially corruption.

The members within the leadership at the Council should have the same fate as Wasps. Put pressure on and get them the fuck out of anything to do with Coventry immediately.

They are only nominally “ Labour”, they are acting more like Tories as time goes on. No offence Gary Ridley

I think a public inquiry would be a waste of money. Enough information about it has already been heard in court in JR2. From what I recall the sale was voted through unanimously by all parties on the council at the time.

the whole thing stinks but its exactly what we expect from the council. any attempt at scrutiny and its buried. this is an organisation that when it was found they'd broken the rules just changed the rules!

There was quite literally a judicial review about this. An online petition with who knows how many signatures isn’t “scrutiny”.

Wasn't the JR solely about whether it broke state aid?

I'm not disagreeing with what you are saying, but that just about sums it up really.

The council that are in on the whole wasps thing, vote between themselves to agree it. A basic bitch version of FIFA and Qatar.

It went through everything though. What’s the aim of this one? “We don’t like Wasps so you should have let the arena fail”?

Yes if there’s one thing politicians are known for it’s all agreeing.

Nah Labour own these cunts I'm afraid. They are more like Tories is bullshit. They are politicians, who are pretty much all shady, but in this case shadier than the dark side of the moon.

You’re heading off into that territory again. What do you think happened, exactly? What are you hoping will be uncovered by this investigation?

I really think this is going to be the thread where @shmmeee manages to win over the hearts and minds of this board about the council, I can feel it.

The other point to make is that the council can reasonably state that regardless of what happened to Wasps there has been no loss of public funds, it was repaid the loan it made to ACL by virtue of the bond. It was able to agree assignment of the lease to a new owner following Wasps' demise. The arena is arguably got a brighter future now than it has had at any point.

Kinda agree. Westminster is a case in point: less and less choice, more and more corruption. Result; nodding donkeys propping up the status quo. Democracy is fucked.

What territory? It's clear as day that the council have had a vested interest in Wasps since day one. The initial decisions, and even the ones recently, are covered in questions. Their behaviour over the destruction of Wasps is also full of lies and deceit. The last week has been a complete embarrassment for them and is effectively epitomised by Hill's GIF of Reeves.

There's absolutely nothing you can say on this forum (and I know you are trying your best) to persuade the majority of people that the council aren't up to their knees is shite, and have acted against our football club in detestable ways time and time again.

Yup, it's been tested to death. We may not like it but, let's be honest, given the circumstances at the time then lawyers would have been over and over any deal checking it was watertight before it happened.

Surely Gary Ridley voted for the deal at the time, too? He's just playing lazy politics atm with no basis in anything other than trying to stir for his own benefit, not for anybody else's.

Ah questions and GIFs, definitely the basis for a public investigation.

The council are invested in the arena, this should be obvious. It’s a key piece of infrastructure. It’s obvious why they wanted Wasps there. The only reason anyone has come up with not to have them and let ACL die and with it a load of taxpayers money was “I don’t like Wasps” and “CCFC should own the stadium”, neither of which are serious reasons for a local authority to turn down investment into their city.

I’m not trying to make anyone love the council, but equally I’m going to challenge baseless nonsense and conspiratorial thinking where I see it. Otherwise this place would be nothing but people convinced George Duggins is the Antichrist and Kevin Maton steals children for their adrenochrome.

Hindsight reviews of the decision-making process won't change anything.
Was Wasps plan really feasible considering earning power of rugby and the debt levels they took on - probably not.
Was part of it personal given the enmity between SISU & council "leaders" - probably
Were SISU's "chicken" tactics a good idea - no
Public reviews aren't going to consider emotions, only facts.
It was all gone through with the JR. Did the council come out smelling of roses - no but wasn't relevant to the technicalities of the sales process
