Simply by putting a price on Keogh proves SISU have no intention of trying to keep him:slap:

It's the "Sun" where more crap is downloaded than the "House of Commons".......The "Star" can sometimes be vaguely accurate!

We have already turned down an £800,000 bid so it obviously doesn't need to be upped by much to reach the £1m target.

as they say every player has his price ..... year left on contract and in division 1 ...... writing is on the wall really isn't it

if he goes i think its a safe bet Crainie will follow

Waggott on CWR this morning said they would be shipping some players out to bring some in once embargo gone ...... lets face it there are not many left .... and certainly not many that could command a decent fee ..... not to mention significantly affect the wage cost

my lad is available ...... playing U16's next year so is about the right age !:thinking about::facepalm:

I really cannot see us bringing in anything like the amount of players we need to make us even competitive (if any at all).

If Keogh and Cranie go we need at least 8 in.

Does anyone honestly believe this £1million will be reinvested in players. SISU will do what they have always done - pocket most of the money and bring in cheap loanees to replace experienced and talented professionals.

The worry is not the players going its what we have to replace them..I wonder what ACL, Council and Trust would think about Platt, Eastwood, Clingan, Craine gone or OOC and the chance Bigi, Keogh, O'D and Macpake possibly being sold with no players or plans of a budget in place to replace them...

Something will have to be done in regards to the embargo before these players are sold or walk if SISU really want the share in the Ricoh surely...If nothing is done and these leave i would hazzard a guess all is not well with talks and SISU are backing out and taking the silverware with them..

i understand the transfer embargo means we can't sell players as well as bring any in? someone please correct me if im wrong. So at the minute no players are going anywhere unless out of contract/free agents.
However - what is to stop a player resigning from CCFC then taking up employment with another club? I would assume there would be contracts/legalities in place to prevent this happening, anyone know any more on this?

i.e. Keogh could hand his notice in with CCFC as he doesn't want to 'work' for us anymore, then head down the road to Bristol, knock on the gaffers door and ask for a job!!! Could this be possible?

I agree. All of these players don't count towards the FFP. So that excuse is invalid.

SISU know they are going to be forced to invest in the team. So they are reducing the costs in the team to such an extent. When they are forced to invest it will still be at a net saving.

Just hope each player leaving is replaced and a couple on top.

These will be freebies at lower wages surely this is the minimum SISU are required to do as part of any deal.

The council should have the deal drawn up ready to sign so SISU know it is there and can't submit books and lift embargo. However it is not signed until the signings are made.

That is the only way I can see the council enforcing the competitive team bit.

I say we need 11 if these 2 leave, add another player on for each of Gael, Mcpake, Wood if they leave.

They call it a transfer embargo in the press but I think it is actually a registration embargo. Therefore you can sell players, let players leave, renew players' contracts but not register any new ones. I think that's what it is.

In other words there is a club called Bristol City and there is a player called Richard Keogh.

Your opinion, others might say worth more than £1m.

I'm guessing that player sales can be included in the turnover for FFP purposes, so it could be that, pending a stadium deal the quickest way to exit the embargo is to bring in fees at the start of the window, thereby making the club viable for the next 12 months and allowing for the accounts to be signed off. £2m in transfer fees is not insignificant when set against the likely wage bill for next season.

He may have been pretty good for us most of last season but I still see deficiencies in his game and he is not a natural CB for me. He was also in a relegated side remember. Overall I would say he is a little over rated and simply stood out a bit with the odd heroics and looked better in a poor side than he actually is. harsh maybe but £1m he is not. if we can get that for him then snap whoever it is hands off!

We have equally as good CB's in my opinion all over our squad....Cameron I think is better given a run of games as he did a few season's ago with Turner alongside and that was a tremendous pairing at the time keeping Wood and others out. Oh yeah we have Wood too...better than Cranie and scores the odd one from set pieces too.

Yep get £1m and be quick about it!

I think 25 experienced players at least, to survive, and 30 to realistically compete

Bristol "Cried when Keogh left them" Hence them trying to buy him. Carlisle thought he was so good their main banner read "In Keogh we trust". He was unanimously voted "Player of the year" at CCFC. I rate the boy, but hey! It's all about opinions

In a real world - namely one where you would be confident some of the money was used to re-invest then most people would accept £1 million is a lot for Keogh.

I even think getting some form of transfer fee for Mcpake who wasn't ever a first choice defender at the club represents good business.

This is one thing that has improved. Last year turner went too cheaply.

I think Wood is a better player technically and a season or two ago was highly rated. With a run back in the side he will be more than a force at this level. £1m for Keogh would indeed be good money.

Can't help thinking too much emphasis is being put on the 'captain' role he played. John terry went missing for the semi and final of the Champions league and how did that turn out?

Just hope the £1m will be used wisely.

Can you honestly say some or all of the transfer money will be used to "Improve" the squad...because I see "Diddly Squat" going to the team.

If he was sold for 2m there would still not be money invested in transfers. All players that come in will be free agents. Any money raised from transfers will go towards our running costs. We have rent to pay. We have wages to pay. The more raised from sales of players and ST's will leave us more able to bring in players on a wage, so in a way we can invest in the squad.

I suppose it would then be up to AT to sign players on a free that will be worth a fee when sold if still under contract to pay for next years rent and expenses

Who is Price, and why is he being put in Keogh's head?

Unless it is Katie Price with her latest football beau?? - now there's a Daily Star story I would pay to read! If she started turing up at home games it might bring in more male support

Keogh IS a natural CB, he played his entire career there until Carlisle signed him and moved him to RB-he prefers it as there are less defensive responsibilities and he loves getting forwards.
But then you think that Wood's better than Cranie, so we are unlikely to agree on much! How anyone can't see that Keogh was our best player by a country mile last season I simply can't comprehend.

And spaceless-TIMS: are you Leicester, Wolves, Villa or Brum, 'cos you sure as hell aren't CCFC!
