Pointless changing the centre back pairing again, especially given that we've not managed a clean sheet with Binks in the team yet this season.

If Sakamoto is fit I'd bring him in for Lati and shift MVE back.

Im not sure a sample size of one clean sheet tells us much about anything.

I think 3-4-1-2 could work well for us with the energy we have in Asante, Basette and Rudoni.

I think with Torp and how much Eccles has evolved and improved, we finally have players that can actually play a long pass up to the front like we were used to with Gus playing a ball over the midfield up to Vik. That's what gave us success in that formation.

I too think we’ll win, purely because it’d be the most Cov thing ever to play absolutely shit against poor teams and break our duck against a team we’ve basically never beaten

As for the 3-4-1-2, I’d personally just tweak it slightly and put one of the midfielders in for a defender, keeping the 4 at the back that we’ve been used to.

4-3-1-2 with less width up top but more maybe control in the midfield, Sheaf sitting and allowing Eccles and Torp to maybe look forward more for long balls up to the 2 strikers. Just let the strikers run onto through balls, playing as high up as possible, and let them focus on finding the net rather than the faffing around and endless poor crossing that we do atm.

Time for the players to step up and be counted never mind the team its 11 v 11.Its about your own desire to do better than your opponent.

Tbf it’s a small sample size either way, I don’t think it’s particularly clear which CB partnership is the best atm. I think Thomas has the most chance of reaching his potential but that’s just pure hunch, it’s all much of a muchness atm tbh.

Ben Wilson in goal for the season it is then. They’re basically not first team games they don’t mean much.

Gonna throw my bold score prediction, "visualize your success and make it happen". I don't normally bother with lineups

2-1 win for sky blues, Simms for the brace to begin his 12 game scoring streak
for no reason other than optimism

I was wondering about this - can cover both sides as a fullback. I also wondered that if he was covering for MVE, and we were struggling in the middle of the park, whether MVE might be a real nuisance as an attacking midfielder - can cover acres of ground, blistering pace, and would cause havoc running at centre backs (thinking outside of the box) !

I realise that - it was just a response to hearing Burrough's name. and the associated thought about MVE in centre midfield (should really have been posted outside the PNE thread - my bad!)

Is the manager giving them a nice little break again? If they are training I’m going for a win if they have been on holiday a defeat.

Would start Dovin.

What's the point?

Preston
Hull
Swansea
Norwich

8 games a season we can write off every year

Effort. Simms moves like me staggering around the house like a zombie after my kid has woke me up at 5am for the 10th day in a row.

You can add West Brom, at least away, to that, as well.

Tatsu injured, Simms been poor cant play on right, Wright needs to be shown he is droppable, Bassette hasnt proven he can play on the right.
Tavares tore apart a premier league fullback in Wan Bissaka pretty sure he’ll be okay vs Preston

With Bidwell out, surely we need to switch to a back 3, allowing Dasilva to play LWB his natural position. We can also bring back Lati or Binks as the 3rd CB. It allows us to play 2 central strikers, or a SS / CF. I can see Sakamoto and Thomas-Asante being useful in that central role behind the main CF.

He didn't at all, he got acres of space at Wembley yet delivered nothing. His starts for the club on the right have been dreadful.

Laugh all you want its just my opinion, at the end of the day would you rather watch Wright bundle around again like he’s undroppable and never play EMC in his natural position and see what he can do on the Left.
Would you want to see Simms over Asante up front at the moment I wouldnt, its Asante’s shirt to lose.
Same goes for Bassette (although I’d like to see him).
People were saying Tavares was our 3rd choice RW, well EMC clearly isnt any good there and Tatsu is out

He turned him inside out for Simms goal, he was a genuine threat when he came on which is why they crocked him. He’s performed well there on other occasions too dont ask when as it doesnt matter I just remember walking away from a couple of games before he got crocked and thinking he played alright or well

Flat midfield 3

Dovin
MVE
Thomas
Kitching
Dasilva
Sheaf
Eccles
Rudoni
Wright
Bassette
BTA

Absolve the front 3 of defensive duties and focus on inviting the opposition forward to hit them on the break and over the top. Just get the 3 of them pressing aggressively, while the 3 in midfield cover the gaps.

I feel like the best way for us to play is invite pressure, leaving the front 3 up (who will press the backline forcing them to attack) and soak up anything thrown at us then hit teams fast and hard with a quick passing movement, progressing it forward. Also known as a vertical tiki taka

He hasn’t played a minute this season, but you want to start him away at PNE to teach Wright a lesson?

Completely forgot Tavares was a Coventry player until he made the bench last game, and I'm guessing that was because of injuries to other players.
Really should have tried to get a loan or move out in the summer

Both played very well at FA youth game at Deepdale.

Still can't believe I saw us win at Preston last year. On penalties too after conceding equaliser at end of extra time.
