Sorry for nipping in ahead of Nick, just wondered what team sheets people think Robins should put out against Preston?

I personally think we should go for 2 strikers up top, both playing right on the shoulder of the last defenders, forget the wingers because they clearly can’t do it for whatever reason and instead we should have more of a presence in midfield, allowing the midfielders to slot balls in behind for the strikers to run on to.

Dovin should start for me, he hasn’t been awful and if we’re going down the model of buy cheap sell expensive, then there’s no way we can sell him if he doesn’t play. He needs time to build a relationship with the defence and I genuinely don’t think having him in goal will make us weaker compared to Wilson.

Dovin
Van Ewijk, Thomas, Binks, Dasilva
Eccles, Sheaf, Torp,
Rudoni
Asante/Simms, Wright/Bassette

Dovin
MVE, Thomas, Binks, Dasilva
Eccles, Sheaf, Rudoni
BTA, Bassette, Wright

Think this is our best option atm.

Never been more confident we’ll lose a game tbh, not sure it matters.

This is one game Ill be less annoyed about losing as we never win this fixture just want a good performance, if anything other than a draw its massive points gained.
Feels fucking weird to say about a team struggling for goals with a leaky defence and sitting 19th in the league.

Ironically I'll be even more annoyed as surely it's about time right? Purely down to numbers, if you play a game of football over many years at the same place, surely eventually you get a win. It's actually pathetic that we have the record there that we do, it angers me and with the start we have made I know that I will be so annoyed if we lose there again.

Dovin
MvE Thomas Binks Dasilva
Eccles Sheaf Rudoni
Saka Simms EMC

Only Dovin away, Wright and BTA can have a rest and come on later. Get that team in and drill them within an inch of their life on defensive shape for the next two weeks

It's Preston away. We'd get dicked 5-0 even if Pep let us borrow his first XI.

I'm actually moving more towards trying the back 3 again and playing two strikers. Especially if Sakamoto is out. Main fear with that is if Bidwell is out and Dasilva has to play it leaves him wide open to the usual ball over the top that does him every time.

Dovin
Thomas Kitching Binks
MvE Eccles Rudoni Sheaf Bidwell*
Wright BTA

Subs: Wilson, Lati, Dasilva*, Torp, Allen, EMC, Simms, Bassette Tavares

You could replace both forwards with Simms and Bassette, or in an emergency EMC and Tavares.

I’d start as per below maybe only moving Torp and Wright for Jack and Simms.

To be honest want to see more of Torp and think if we told him to stay inbetween midfield and attack and look not to move but play passes and link the team we’d see the best of him.

Think two up front would help and want to see wright back in the centre. Would start Joel on the ball as while he’s not going to play ambitious passes, he does have a good pass ratio which I’d want him. Thomas in the centre to play a sweeping role.

That’s the team I’d go for

I fancy us to beat them, don’t know why. Season has to start after this break

I don't think we'd win a raffle in which we bought 100 of the 101 available tickets atm.

Reason I’d go with this too is that they’ll all be at the club and not on international duty

Bring Wright and BTA on

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 3 though, then change it back to a 4 if and when we’re losing at half time

taking my little one to his away game and combining with a weekend up north with the relatives. Hoping to get to the game early to see the players arrive.

Do you know what time this would be. About 1030ish? are they likely to stop for a couple of photos or is it straight in behind barriers?

Don't think you can justify playing Torp ahead of Rudoni. I'd like to see Torp play a bit further forward to see if it helps him, but maybe as a sub. maybe if Sheaf needs to come off then move Rudoni back next to Eccles.

That’s fair it for me was a tie up, I just think Torp will play more of the through balls that I think we’ve been missing looking at stats. Plus could always move Jack to be a box to box for Eccles to give us more scoring chance in midfield.

This is what I would go with.

I think 3-4-1-2 could work well for us with the energy we have in Asante, Basette and Rudoni.

I always felt that without Vik, and Wright and Simms up front we had absolutely zero energy in that 3-4-1-2 we used to play.

And now I think with Torp and how much Eccles has evolved and improved, we finally have players that can actually play a long pass up to the front like we were used to with Gus playing a ball over the midfield up to Vik. That's what gave us success in that formation.

Exactly that in regards to up front, feel we have plenty of options. Also feel wright and simms would do well with. A runner beside them making space.

And in regards to torp that’s why I’d play him as a pocket ten. Feel he wouldn’t have to work hard to make up ground (which he struggles with in em due to pace) due to the amount of runners around him and he could focus on his best asset and play the through balls in behind or the over the top balls. Plus might get a chance to have more shots.

What’s your little one done to deserve a trip to Preston? Some serious child neglect here

Given injury to Bidwell, our best 11, only 1 outfield player who wasn't here last season, and all playing in positions they played last season.

Dovin
MVE Thomas Binks Dasilva
Eccles Sheaf
Sakamoto Rudoni Wright
Simms

Not that it tends to make a difference at their place, but ..... they will be missing

Dracula (part of his 8 game ban)
Will Keane - injured hamstring, and a clever footballer imo
Ben Whiteman - one of their key/better midfielders (played alongside Sheaf at Doncaster?) one game ban.

So I am feeling slightly more confident that we will be able to get something there. 4-0 to City.

You can look at playing slightly with the positioning, JDS is neat and tidy on the ball so you can look at maybe having him step in to central midfield when we have the ball so we can create overloads there and support the midfielders.

Want to see Robins be more positive and less scared on the ball from the players. We can’t keep on fucking up and giving soft goals away. Fire the players up and get them playing with more energy

Pointless changing the centre back pairing again, especially given that we've not managed a clean sheet with Binks in the team yet this season.

If Sakamoto is fit I'd bring him in for Lati and shift MVE back.
