Thomas played well and got another assist.

Wright missed 2 very good chances and let their player score.

Rudoni tries too much all of the time, wants 10 touches when he could lay it off.

Sakamoto anonymous.

Thought we were fairly poor right across the pitch. Don’t really think anyone comes off with much credit.

Yeah, but we win it 1-0 we would be saying we battered them and it could have been more. Preston defended well. Like Preston do.

Considering the possession we wasn't great, I have no feckin idea why Wright was marking Kitchings man for their goal also no idea why Lampard took Wright off why didn't he put them both upfront although Wright has missed a few good chances tonight

Thought Wright did ok to be honest. Certainly not the lower scores being given above.

He was a great save and a lucky offside away from bagging a brace. His touch was decent and looked to be finding space behind.

I thought we missed a trick not putting Simms on at HT with Wright.
Probably 7’s all round.
KKH possibly 6 with Kitching mom

Thomas was decent, Dasilva was ok. Forwards poor; Wright's movement was good first half, but he had a lot of very presentable chances.

Essentially we didn't win that because they thought it was in the bag at 1-0, though. That's what I'm most annoyed about.

That will bother Lampard most too. He’ll have wanted us to keep going for more goals to avoid exactly what happened.

I thought it was in the bag too. That’ll learn me.

No one really shone. I think we look quite tired at the moment.
Tats hardly had the ball and his crossing seemed weak as fuck at times.

I’m sure it will have been mentioned already but the pitch looked shite.

Wright had the big negative moments around him but he was relatively sharp after a long absence.
Saka was quiet.
Rudoni has me worried whether he slows up the high tempo game we've been playing without him.
Most the rest were decent.
We have very much been a high tempo, high confidence team. That seems to be drifting and we will have a real problem if heads drop.

I will say, the game plan of sitting a bit deeper then catching them with balls over the top was bang on and earned us the man advantage. I’d go with it again at Southampton.

im not overly keen on rudoni seemingly having a competely free role , as weve definitley lost some fluidity and structure with him back in the team .

We actually miss BTA too

I'll rate only the pitch:

2 / 10

Looked like a circuit of horse races competed hours earlier.
Noticed someone overturned a rubbish bin with loose refuse on one side.
Someone's birthday balloons invaded the pitch.
Some green, flat areas, so earned at least a score of 2.

Rushworth 6

Couple of great saves and much improved bowling distribution. However, messed around and kicked out for the throw that led to the cross that led to their goal. Silly.

KKH 5

Just not impressed by him. TF we cashed in on Sheaf not MVE.

Thomas 7

Good long throw but in reality he needs to be on the end of them.

Woolfenden 6

Meh

Kitching 7

Tidy enough

JDS 7

Did a job. Can’t shoot.

Eccles 6

Hope he’s ok

Grimes 6

Get the ball in quicker

Rudoni 7

Got everywhere and gets an extra bit for the “goal”

Tats 7

Menace

Wright 7

Bit lethargic but did some great stuff.

I thought Hayden did better defensively on the right than Dasilva did on the left and their goal come down Dasilvas side.

Don't think Saka was right tonight! He looked sluggish and a bit out of it if you ask me. If MVE hadn't got the shits I don't think Saka would have started tonite

Rudoni wanting 15 touches and a pirouette every time he gets the ball is jarring. The two centre backs played more penetrative balls than any of the midfielders.

I can only assume Dasilva was really tired, because he just didn't track back with their player running down the wing. Just seemed to let him go.

No closing down at all.

Wright missed a couple of sitters and I'm sure Ellis scres that one at the back post, but the other opportunities were only crested by his pace and movement, getting around and ahead of defenders. He 'won' the red card when hed have arguably scored and tucked away the easy chance EMC created that ended up offside. No way is that a 4 performance as some have marked. It's simply reactionary to not a winning and a striker not scoring.

Forgetting his defensive contribution for their goal of course. 4 probably is harsh but he needs to have put away one of the three chances he had in the first half. Anything else is just not good enough I'm afraid.

In a wingback or attacking fullback system you expect your CB to come across. Thomas always does this on the right Kitching never does on the left.
