If we had a few quid for every time Lorna asked about 'THE Sky Blue Army' this season we would be able to buy Mbappe

Car crash of an interview. At one point Frank takes control and gives a straight answer before she can even finish her mumbling,

I cant imagine even in this day and age that being a female journalist in Football can be easy. Then add in Frank's ability to not answer too many questions then it gets harder. That all said, she could be doing a lot better, and yes some of the questions are baffling - it feels like she is asking any old tat just to extend the interviews.

I think she is dire and I do not find Gurney much better to be honest

I find CWR unlistenable these days, I do not bother with it

Must we beat her up over these every week? She's doing a job for local radio, it's not PMQ's.

They are quite dull and it is rinse and repeat most weeks whoever is doing it, but I'm not sure what you expect them to ask or what insight you want to hear that won't be damaging to the team. He can't give tactics and formations away. Beyond that, it's just a bit of City listening. Take it at face value for what it is or don't bother with it.

I think she does a decent job at the pre-match conference every week - for some reason there was a palpable tension between Lampard and Clive Eakin last season, and that has gone.

Rob Gurney talks abt the “magnificent SBA” in every single post match interview and conference he attends. I think the quality of questions (about selections, injuries, transfers, reflections on the last game and preparation for this one) is higher with Bailey than with Gurney or Eakin tbh. Has anyone considered that asking about the fans might even be a tactic that the club encourage? Certainly the club and local media want us - as fans- to buy in the notion that we are part of the success story of the team.

I meant I don't see the relevance that a male reporter would ask the same stupid questions. The gender of a reporter doesn't stop the question being stupid.

People didn’t seem to get as regularly wound up by the stupid questions when it was a man asking them. This thread is the exact same every week.

Sports reporters can only ask a limited number of questions about a subject. There isnt much variety to ask other than whats asked. My only gripe is that I wished she would speed her words up. I find myself finishing off her sentences before her

Nonsense. I couldn't give a fuck what their gender was; if it had been a male reporter, I'd have said exactly the same thing. Gender, in this instance, has nothing to do with my observations

Today
Hi - please give me 10 interesting questions that I might ask a football manager at a press conference
Absolutely — crafting sharp, engaging questions is half the fun of a good press conference. Here are ten that go beyond the clichés and actually get a manager thinking:

Thought‑provoking tactical questions
How did the in‑game momentum shifts influence your tactical adjustments today?

What specific patterns of play were you trying to exploit in the opposition’s setup?

How do you balance sticking to your philosophy with adapting to the strengths of individual players?

Culture, leadership, and squad‑building
What behaviours or standards have you prioritised to shape the culture in the dressing room?

How do you keep players who aren’t starting regularly motivated and connected to the team’s goals?

What’s the biggest leadership lesson you’ve learned from this season so far?

Player development and long‑term vision
Which aspects of your younger players’ development are you most focused on right now?

How do you integrate data and analytics into your decision‑making without losing the human element?

Pressure, expectations, and mindset
How do you manage the psychological side of the game when the team is under pressure?

What does success look like for you beyond just results on the pitch?

If you want, I can tailor these to a specific manager, club, or situation — pre‑match, post‑match, transfer window, crisis mode, you name it.

Please tailor them to Frank Lampard at Coventry City for a pre-match press conference
Absolutely — shaping these for Frank Lampard at Coventry City gives them a sharper edge and a bit more relevance to his situation. These would land well in a pre‑match press conference, where managers are usually balancing tactical insight with squad updates and long‑term messaging.

Tactical and match‑specific angles
What aspects of the opposition’s style do you feel Coventry can exploit under your approach this weekend?

You’ve spoken before about wanting your teams to be brave on the ball — what does that look like in this particular matchup?

How close do you feel the squad is to fully understanding and executing the patterns of play you’re trying to implement?

Leadership, culture, and transition
Since arriving at Coventry, what’s been the biggest cultural shift you’ve tried to introduce in the dressing room?

How are you managing the balance between respecting the foundations already in place and putting your own identity on the team?

What have you learned about this group of players that perhaps surprised you in your first few weeks?

Player development and squad management
Several young players have been breaking through at Coventry — which areas of their development are you most focused on ahead of this match?

How are you approaching squad rotation at this stage, especially with players adapting to new demands and roles?

Mindset, expectations, and preparation
What’s been the key message to the squad this week in terms of mentality going into the game?

Beyond the result, what indicators will tell you that the team is moving in the right direction under your leadership?

Good for you I’m talking about the aggregate response. Maybe you are a lone voice who cares about the quality of local radio interviews but there seem to be a lot more of you when it’s a woman.

So what do you expect the answer to be regardless of WHO asks it?
"No I hope we lose"!
"I think it may help if we win"!
"Yes its important"!
FFS these moronic questions the same as do you think a certain player will be playing...."hang on let me give you the team news instead of saddlebrains"
Who is back from injury and on the bench....."hang on let me give you the team news instead of saddlebrains"

The questions are just a complete waste of time because they are not going to be answered!!!

I think the questions were okay. The club keep their cards close to their chest nowadays with regards to transfers and pre-match tactics so you're mainly left with filler questions.

I get more frustrated when CWR fixate on certain topics such as Haji Wright's goal scoring drought. They even asked Kai Andrews about it after the Stoke game last week. What do they expect him to say? Just feels like it adds to the pressure.
