The City boss is looking for an experienced head to replace Clarke rather than a young talent, which would appear to rule out Cassidy and McAlinden, both of whom are only 20, 19-year-old Evans and fellow teenagers Bancessi and Keita who are yet to make a first team appearance.
Although Sigurdarson – the half brother of former City midfielder Bjarni Gudjonsson – is only 22, he has played almost 50 games for Wolves (scoring seven goals) and at 6ft 1 would appear the closest match to replace Clarke.
