Has been announced today, premier league discussing significant changes regarding loanees at Championship clubs. Premier League clubs want their young players to be given more game time to develop in the championship, and this would be accompanied by a restructuring of the parachute payments system. It seems that that the main discussion point is forcing championship sides to field a certain number of under-23 players in their first teams.

What are everyone's thoughts?

If they think they can turn the championship into a feeder league, they can f*** right off.

Not only did they vote in EPPP a system where they can stockpile any promising youngsters for a pittance, they now want the lower leagues to make it more comfortable for them to develop!

I believe there is already a change in that a club can only loan 8 players in and 8 players out in a season, u21 players not included in the tally.

Dont know how many the likes of Chelsea loan out each year but that u21 line will impact them

They had 23 out on loan last season, 37 the year before that…

If they want U23 players to develop let other clubs sign them permanently and play them. Then that club gets the benefit for improving them either on the pitch or in transfer fees.

The football league is not there for the benefit of the bigger clubs.

It's high time squad limits were brought in so clubs can't stockpile players.

I know certain clubs tend to keep players on for quite some time, but if you're going to put on a limit, make it the limit. Don't add caveats that allow them to get around the entire purpose of it.

Fuck the Premier League they should be discussing doing away with parachute payments or sharing it between all the teams in the leagues.

Should work both ways. Imagine what a player Max would have blossomed into if someone like Liverpool were forced to give him 20 games.

They can fuck right off. I have zero interest in watching a PL feeder division. Maybe they should have thought about this before they changed the rules to allow them to grab all the young players for next to nothing.

This is going to be the same again isn't it. They will threaten to cut off solidarity payments unless this is voted through. They won't be happy until the game is completely destroyed outside of the PL.
