By northern Italy do they in fact mean a short 35 mile trip to Switzerland?

Apparently;

Lake Garda is in a strategic position within easy reach of the principle national and international airports, the nearest being Verona-Villafranca, approximately 15 km, and Brescia-Montichiari, 30 km. Both are situated south of the lake and are connected to the Verona and Brescia railway stations by an airport coach service.
Another important airport is Bergamo-Orio al Serio, about 80 km from the lake.
Personalized transfer services are available to and from all the localities on the lake.
The Milan (Linate and Malpensa) and Venice airports are about 100 km from Lake Garda.

Wonder what airlines go to the local airports?

As soon as I read the thread title I immediately thought of the song from the Italian Job, we're the self preservation society (or however it was worded) and then promptly thought of sisu.

Whenever I go to the Dolomites in Northern Italy I just get a £35 easy jet flight to Milan and then get the train through Verona. Only costs about 35 Euros on the train. I'd assume for this you could get to the places via Verona. Flights to local airports are normally in the hundreds of £.

And, given City's likely budget for this trip, you could be sharing the journey with the team!

Haha! I can honestly say if I was off to Italy next month the last thing I'd do is go and watch the football! I go out there to get away from it all in the mountains!

With the amount of players we'll have left buy then, does Harry Shaw do mini buses? Reckon if you turn up to them games you'll get a trial!

Trust me - when and who are we playing - I'm off to Lake Garda for a bit in mid August (I expect I'm going to miss the games, but if not I may have to disappear from the missus for half a day - fat chance!!)

Damn - now see it's late July, so I'll miss it - just hope SP knows what he's doing, lining up our kids against a Serie B outfit - dirty shin kickers (not stereotyping or anything!!)

You can fly to Verona from Gatwick with Easyjet or BA, but it will usually be quite expensive late summer.

You'd be better off flying to Bergamo from either East Midlands or Birmingham, can usually get cheapish flights there. From Bergamo get a bus to Milano Centrale and then the train over to Verona for about €12 on the regionale.

Think of it as Ricoh - Sixfields - Ricoh.

Not much difference....

Is this for real and have any dates been released? Can't see anything on the offal.

Leaving for Italy on the 17th July and coming home 2nd/3rd August. Staying in a villa near Alba which is in the middle of Turin and Genoa. It has its own vineyard where we get to drink the produce Will have a people carrier so if anyone flies out they could well have a taxi service. Would be great if my little boy could watch his first game in Italy. Turin airport is about an hour away and Milan a little further.

If this is correct I will have room for 5 more in my motor. My youngest son will have his first three games watching our club in Italy the lucky bugger

Beats flying home to get a game in but have a feeling that the wife won't be happy

Should be nice long train journey for the players from Coventry to London to Paris to Zurich to Lake Garda. Group discount for 10 or more. Sisu will be using discount voucher codes as well and will opt out of big luggage in the hold. Just a small suitcase each.
