I think this is one of the saddest things about out situation. It looks like our tour may be South Walesish. If that is the case maybe our plum match is Swansea or Cardiff away.

Was the best ground in the world when Bakes and McGoldrick scored in the last minute last Christmas!

PORTUGUESE Premier League club Boavista are coming to the Ricoh Arena.

The five times Portuguese cup winners will play Coventry City in their big pre-season match a week before the club kick off their new Championship campaign.

The Panthers, who finished sixth in the Superliga last season, will be the first international team to play at the new stadium and will provide a stern test for Micky Adams's men who begin their friendly fixtures in America.

"I feel I have got a nice balance of games which will all be competitive and provide the players with a good work out," said the City boss.

"But they will build towards the start of the season and Boavista will provide quality opposition before we get the season underway.

"Hopefully it will also be a good one for the fans to enjoy and a nice occasion to set up the new campaign."

The match will kick off at 3pm on Saturday, July 29.

Other City friendlies: Nuneaton Borough (Thurs, July 20, 7.45pm)' Notts County (Sun, July 23, 3pm) and Tranmere Rovers (Weds, July 26, 7.45pm). Reserve games have been scheduled for: Halseowen Town (Mon, July 17, 7.45pm)' Hinckley Town (Tues, Aug 1, 7.45pm) and Rugby Town (Tues, Aug 8, 7.45pm).

I remember Don Hutchison doing a blog on that tour of the US. I don't remember any of it except his line about Andy Whing:

'You can take the boy out of Birmingham but you can't take the Birmingham out of the boy-Whingy had Rice Krispies.'

Just Wiki'd and I'm kind of In the wrong .

Boa Vista came over In 2006-7 ,their shirts are more like a Chessboard .

The following season was Espanyol ,and as i recalled was tasty with two sendings off ,their kit was as Imagined .

Why do we never play friendliest against teams from higher divisions?!

I was hoping for an away friendly against Northampton!

Just for a few fleeting moments I got excited at the prospect of the Newport game! My heart pounded! I broke into palpitations! My breathing quickened! Could this really be true? Newport? Then I read the full story.

It's Newport, S Wales - NOT Newport, Isle of Wight! Ah well. I can but dream...........

Because getting spanked by shitty Championship teams probably wouldn't be the best boost for morale.
