Nope, just a positive thread about our manager.
Are all the tiresome anti thorn threads there for only a reaction too ? Or is that title reserved only for the positive ones ?

No, Go Team Thorn put an opinionated slant on it. If you had just said it was nice for someone to come out and praise the manager then people wouldn't have been all over it like a rash.

Go Team Thorn is not a positive slant on things it is stating a personal opinion you have in support of the manager in a bigger picture.

The time will come when people will stop using the lack of money as an excuse. He has still had an entire squad of professional players to work with and in my opinion someone with a little more tactical nous would have for more than a paltry 13 wins in 59 games.
In what world is this good enough? How are people defending this?

Because you have to consider context. We were playing against teams with more resources and better players than us all last season. Within this context, you have to anticipate a poor return; surely?

Why can't people grasp that?

If only those who sat around me on Tuesday night took a similar attitude. I can't see what benefit it will have to the players being vented at by members of the crowd, pretty much all of whom would not come close to being able to perform on the pitch. Save it for after the game.

Ha, I reckon a few could do a better job! And to be fair, just because somebody isn't good at a particular thing doesn't mean they can't voice their opinion on it. People know good footballers and poor footballers without needing to be able to perform to a professional standard themselves.

Not sure Barnsley, Millwall or P'boro had as big a salary budget as us. And Yeovil and Bury will definitely be a fraction of our salary budget.

I fully appreciate that. There was still 8 or 9 occasions last season where none of the above came into play. Poor tactics, delayed substitutions, etc. Managers with less resources have done better. We can't keep hiding behind the same excuses.

It is a results business, but it's not all black and white, is it? There are tons of factors to consider.

There are, lack of resources, back-room support etc.

Though don't know why somebody can't be a poor manager also.

Agree totally, I'm not saying those factors only affect one side of the "debate".

Can't help the player though! Imagine if you were doing your job and someone inferior to you at it was sitting in the corner criticising everything you did! I know it's different circumstances but still, that wouldn't motivate me.

it does mean 1 thing - AT's feeling a bit more pressure this season so he needs to get his PR strategy in top order and his excuses prepared.

I think personally this season is the only season we can really judge thorn.I don't think fergie would've kept us up last season.so I'm going to do just that..it isn't just thorn that's failed here...proven managers have come here and failed one after the other...they must all be poo

People understand the money issues, but it's the lack of self improvement in Thorn, we are still making the same basic errors, using the same tactics that haven't worked, the similar types of players hes decided to employ. It was blatantly obvious to everyone in the ground on tuesday night that the midfield were too narrow and lacked pace. No players have been signed so far to address this.

If I could see an improvement between now and when he first took over then I'd be more then willing to give him a chance to prove himself, but I haven't seen anything to suggest anything has changed.

Time will give us the answers. One way or the other.

well we only needed an extra 10% - do you seriously mean to tell me fergie - the most successful manager in the history of the game could not have delivered a 10% improvement on the results of a completely unqualified novice - please listen to yourself and understand what a foolish claim you are making here.

We were three wins from safety. They could have been had, especially when you compare the home record to the away record.

so I'm going to do just that..it isn't just thorn that's failed here...proven managers have come here and failed one after the other...they must all be poo

There's rarely such a thing as a "proven manager". Some managers succeed at club X and fail at club Y. Why was it that the unproven Black did so much better than his successor, the proven Reid? It's really the luck of the draw.

so you are saying that frrgie would have kept us up..as much as you think the manager would influence the game past kick off..we conceded plenty of sloppy goals that ended up in defeat that in all fairness were down to player error positioning etc.if you think we could've been saved last season with a bench of kids in the championship..its you that needs to have a word

Your basing this assumption off the back of him managing the richest or one of the richest clubs in the world.but let's forget the first few years of his reign when united were poo and people...just like our lot wanted his head

Positioning can be worked on. Players prone to making mistakes and when they make these mistakes, can be worked on. Not sitting back when going 1-0 up. All manner of things can be worked on once the game has kicked off! Ha ha.

Edit: These mistakes were made time and time again, maybe another manager would have picked up on this and changed things around, tried new ideas? Maybe?

How do you think they became so rich? On field success came before wealth, not the other way round as it is with Citeh and Chelski.

No he didn't, he just acted like a normal fan who is posting a link to a positive story about our club. Only the twisted one-eyed people on here with their anti-Thorn paranoia could perceive it as inflammatory. The prevailing tone set by a vocal minority on here is incredibly detrimental to being able to see things objectively.

If that Malaga goal v sheff utd was given (as it was a goal) we would have won and be sitting pretty in the top 6.fact is that people on here would have a different approach.the fact we didn't win is not down to thorn..the fact we have 2 draws and thorn has a ZERO win ratio in league one is because of an error by the officials
