Should we go up I think Hackney is the ideal signing to take the baton from Grimes for the next 8/10 years

People kept writing Kelly off with each promotion but he just kept producing (when fit).

6 or 7 of that first 11 must have had reasonable Championship careers following promotion? Even if not with us.

The general consensus on here was that Fadz would need replacing, he just got better and better.

IIRC Dabo was the great hope at the time. Not sure anyone would have called Jamie Allen outlasting everyone.

Yes I think most thought he'd step up. Shows how wrong you can be as was probably the worst at this level from the whole league one starting 11.

I don’t think he was ever fully fit after promotion. People forget how good he was in league 1.

I think current premier league players with experience could be a go too, with Frank Lampard there could be a pull with how he’s improved some of the players we’ve got. Maybe super Callum Wilson to return?

Not for me. Injury prone and his legs have gone. If we are going to invest in premier league wages then we need players that are still hungry not going through the motions…..

Is this tongue in cheek, if not 100% would be a cracking signing

If he can be fit for 19/20 games and score 9/10 in those games it could be very important, and he’s not exactly going through the motions for West Ham

Been talking tonight with a few friends about players we think would be decent signings if/when we go up . Obviously we would need more than just players from the Championship but a few names came up

Louza - Watford
Leif Davis - Ipswich
Hackney , Whittaker - Boro
Monga - Leicester

Any others ?

Id aslo be looking at the teams coming down from premiership...look to pick up some of their best players.

Agree. He was good enough, but his body couldn't deal with the rigours of being a professional athlete. He was rushed back on more than one occasion too, which would have been to his detriment.

As well as Allen, from that team probably Hyam has gone on to establish himself the best.

Get Hamer back and have Frank’s team work on his fitness and conditioning. Get Louiza, maybe Mehmeti and Hughes. Gudjohnssen for Blackburn looks quite good whenever I’ve watched him.

Don't know Davis. The rest are out of our reach, (price and wages wise), whilst we are in the Championship, but could do a job in the Prem. Monga a bit of a gamble on his ultimate development, although he does look good.

Yep, I thought Dabo and Rose were nailed on as easily making the step up. Just shows how injuries screw a career, particularly Dabo who was voted our L1 player of the season.

From memory Hyam we thought would, Jodi Jones if fit , Godden and lots of debate over Shipley
We had high hopes for Marosi but never the same after his injury.

With players like Dabo, if they get multiple muscular injuries and they lose their pace or can’t push themselves without pulling something… you’re finished. His decline was v sudden and it’s a bit sad.

If Dabo never had any injuries he could have gone far, he had all the physical attributes and was a good footballer

Philogene is good enough, as is Hackney.

There’s a conversation to be had about Hamer but have we moved on from that on the basis that I believe Grimes, Rudoni and Torp are good enough for the PL.

Personally Id take Hackney, Louza and Fatawu then look abroad.

Hackney and Louza have the ability to step up and do well especially Hackney, Fatawu for his pace and trickery would be an asset in the Premier League, we shouldn't do what Ipswich did and fill it will Championship players, I think they did it with the thinking that if we get relegated then we have a Championship super team to get promoted straight away, obviously they haven't stormed the league as they thought they would, so we should do what Sunderland have done.

Couple of top top Championship players signed and that's it, we want to stay there and play the best teams with some of the best players in the world, I'd rather go and play Chelsea on a Saturday then go to Millwall or travel to Anfield rather MKM Stadium (Hull's ground).

Agreed but we aren't going to be able to financially afford a load of premier league players

Yep - players with 'established' PL teams won't jump ship, if they have lucrative contracts. We'll have to sign players with a 'wages drop' clause if we're relegated. Probably going to have to raid Europe, where wages are lower ( like Sunderland have). Maintaining a strong feelgood factor will be tough, but necessary ( for the squad). The fans will have the usual internal spats if/when the team struggles. Let's get there first! Agree about Louza. Hope we can keep hold of a few current players to maintain the group's identity.

He's hardly excellent, that's a ridiculous take. When he decides to turn up he can be a decent winger at this level but he's nowhere near good enough to be playing in the PL, not even close.

Much better players at this level have struggled to adapt.

Your comprehension of the English language is getting worse.....or you're making up your own version of what you read.

So where did I mention the Prem? I said he would slot straight into our side. I said he's excellent at what he does. Fast, strong and a very good shot on him. Have you ever even watched him play against us? Bothered to turn up? Yeah OK.

This is my fear for mvE. Part of his game is his pace to recover. Should he lose that I could see him falling off a cliff. Obviously hopefully it won't ever happen.

You do realise you're responding in a potential summer signings from the Championship thread?

Why are you responding to a post when it's irrelevant to the topic at hand. A bit like all your posts on here pointless, idiotic and no one reads them.

Yes I watched the game and he did well scoring once and coming close with a long range strike. Yet another idiotic take of yours is thinking one game defines a player's ability.

If you actually had a single braincell you'd know he's been quite poor since his standout season for Plymouth. Compounded by the fact that he's been criticised heavily by Boro fans for his mixed performances since his arrival and has had considerably more poor performances than good.

Performances have improved as of late but calling him excellent is a terrible take. Just own it and get back to your little corner of irrelevancy where you belong.

How about the last time we played against him? Was supposed to have been a walkover. I said then how dangerous he was and how he would be too fast for us...tipped him to score as well. Guess what....he pulled us apart and scored then as well and we lost.

Idiotic take? That's your forte. I'll leave you to continue.

By any measure except for shots attempted he ranked poorly last season. Faring better this season true, but someone who would really struggle in the league above assuming we get there.

Good player but not worth the probable cost.

Again I didn't say he would be brilliant in the Prem. I stated I wouldn't be looking at Championship signings for the Prem. What I did say is he would fit in well with the way we play.

No better or worse than our current options and we have 3 people already for his position.

So as a signing for next month, I’d pass.

Whittaker is pants. He wouldn’t get in our first choice team. He was good in a dogshit team
