Getting beat 3-0 by the mighty Tranmere as they knocked the ball around, showboated did plenty of tricks crowd were cheering did the odd ole city were chasing shadows, when webster & clarke would win the ball back only to give it straight back to them. Tranmere fans were laughing at our players.

How can it be worse than losing 5-1 as a Premier League Team to them?

We were a premier league team then in the season we were called the entertainers in the PL this follows defeats to the mighty Notts county and carlisle, give me October 99 position over this any time

The 4-1 loss v charlton last game of the season, when we needed a result to guarantee survival must rank right up there. Thankfully Saved by the width of the post.

Does it? So you basically believe in a strategy of spending well over 100% of income in wages as a strategy for success especially when with a squad paid millions we lost 5-1 that night and the following year were relegated with debts that were irreparable? You're right we were living the dream.

lots of clubs have overspent and are not being punished like we are as fans, the low point is not just our current position it was during a match against relatively poor opposition we looked so poor bereft of ideas, drive and passion. One of their players ran past about 4 of our players unchallenged, I think the Tranmere player was so surprised at the lack of effort he didn't know what to do.

Every club relegated from the premiership and not promoted back in the parachute window have I believe relegated again / gone to administration or both. That was a fact up to the point we were relegated so yes they have all suffered. Newcastle may be the only one who didn't. Look at the 1992 premier league and see where they are now - one is in the conference.

When we get Calum back fit (and injury free) and have Upchuck (Ben 10 fans) up front with him, I think we'll just about have enough in the tank to get over the line. But this Summer, post JR is likely to prove key to our direction of travel. Feels a bit cheap saying a prayer for your football club, but if you're watching up there we could do with the odd hand of God intervention:wave:

Luton never made it to the Premier League. With the exception of Pompey who massively overspent we are doing the worse of any ex PL side. Huge debts no assets play 35 miles from Cov its bad and going only one way.

I'm guessing that he was referring to the low point being while we were 3-0 down during the game. We then scored (hooray!)

Talking a couple of seasons ago with other City fans about where are we heading ?I said we could be another Luton Town drop down and out of the League.I said it with a heavy heart but I see Luton are heading back up while we are falling lower and lower.I hope my prediction is wrong though !

Oldham, Sheffield united arent doing better and Wimbledon certainly aren't. I believed nick Owen about Luton. Bradford also have been in the premier league. Of the founder members half have experienced league one or worse.

Only the Blades are the same size / profile as us but bradford and Blades are more likely to get into the championship before us, how many of their fans would swap their circumstances for ours.

Sheffield Utd might be a couple of places below us in the league (though win their game in hand and they are above us) but they are in a much much healthier position. They had 12 times the amount of fans at their last home game than we did. I'd argue we are more likely to get relegated than they are and there is no reason that next season won't be much better for them, where as next season couldn't look worse for us.

Well I am one of those old timers who have had enough. My first game was in 58/59 season. I will always support the only team CCFC but I truly believe that this season will be the end of my beloved Coventry

I've seen some poor results and shocking performances, but I don't remember feeling as low as I did watching that this afternoon. Being laughed at by Tranmere, again, is too much.

Just couldn't face it today, not after the notts county game and the Carlisle result. The whole situation is the most frustrating imaginable. What worries me is that the team appears to have completely lost their way on the field, has Elvis hit a wall?

I went today contrary to most on here EastLancs apart but didn't see you somehow. I've felt worse than today tbh. Plenty on here are desperate for reasons not to go in any case.

The only reason most don't go is because we are playing 35 miles from where we should be.Sorry to state the obvious.

Oh, get a grip. When the going gets tough get behind your team and stop crying like a 16 year old who's been dumped by his girlfriend. It's easy to moan and whinge and say "everyone is laughing at us", they will be if they read some of the shit posted on this forum. It was 3-1.

We have no God given right to be in the Premier League. We may have been the "entertainers" but behind the scenes we were certainly paying for what we were seeing on the pitch.

That's the issue though isn't it.

Now the club has nothing to do with Coventry and completely ignores the wishes of 99.9% of its fanbase its difficult to see them as "our team".

Agree. I'd take being in the Premier league at our own ground with the players we had then any day of the week. It's a bizarre argument. Sometimes it's just argument for arguments sake.

I felt pretty fucking low last night and I can't see it getting much better this season. If we stay up I think it will be because others have screwed up, unless something changes drastically. We are drifting into some real trouble. I just have a bad feeling, the spirit seems to have gone out of the team.

What you call lemming I call supporting. Get over it. Did you say the same thing to the people who went to the Emirates? Nah, of course you didn't. You're the same as all of them on here. You can easily slag people off on a message board, but you wouldn't do it to their faces.

Of course the team has something to do with Coventry. It says Coventry on the shirts, they are the same players, wearing the same colour wherever they play. It may be far, far from an ideal situation at the moment, but the fans won't and can't change that - so let's not have another argument about Sixfields - the only people who can change it are those at SISU and the Council. In the meantime, I've decided to support the players I've always supported, those wearing Sky Blue. I really don't give a flying fuck if you or others disagree with my stance or not. One day, we'll be back at the Ricoh, I'm sure. I certainly won't feel guilty for my "crimes" when that day comes.

I support them and I always will, I'm not going to give up on them and start crying like a six-year-old on a forum or on a phone-in. Me and my boy will cheer them on.

Well said Torch. You have every right to be taking your lad to the football. At least that's 1 fan that won't be lost to this situation.

Personally, I won't go to Sixfields but every fan has the right to make their own choice. No one should be made to feel guilty for that. Have to say if I had a child of the right age I would still tale them, it's better than losing another to Man United.
