All strikers should want to take penalties but I never felt confident when I saw it was him. Plenty of better players miss penalties (Messi and Ronaldo have missed 31 each) but it should have been Eccles or Grimes.There’re better players than Ellis Simms who have missed penalties. It happens. Probably not worth over analysis.

Just Torp and Haji. And id use the word competent not great.
Sheaf has the worst shooting in the squad.Grimes or Eccles for me. Sheaf's shooting is terrible, very erratic, the last person you want an opportunity to fall to.
Wright isn't the best penalty taker either. Good for me with my topscorer bet and I'm an advocate for strikers should always take pens

Did he show the confidence though? Looked dead nervous, I thought. I couldn't believe it was Simms who stepped up to take it, and it looked like he couldn't believe it either. They must practice pens in training so I suppose Simms must have got the job based on thatI think Simms would have been about 6th or 7th on my list of who should have taken it.
