Cracking performance. 2nd half was even more crackinger.
I'm so happy right now!

The defending, the passing, and the crossing today was lethal!

Play up Sky Blues!!

I think it would be good if SISU sold us in the next couple of days.

Chief Commentator!
It was most definately a "crackinger" (did you just make that word up?? :D ) performance than we're used to seeing.

Once again we deserved the points, and outplayed the opposition in the mean time. How Brighton went so long unbeaten at the start of the season ill never know!

So glad Poyet isnt our manager!! I hate managers who encourage their players to dive, roll around, and get players booked etc. And his touch line antics are unbelieveable! Loved it when the ref (who may I say was absolute shite along with his Tesco side assistant) let Deegan walk off when being subbed, which contradicted what he done when Brighton wanted to sub their injured player earlier in the game. Pure class watching Poyet have a tantrum at the forth official!!

Happy New Year it certainly is (atleast until Monday when I fear the doom and gloom will tell return. Cant see us beating West Ham, but aslong as the players put a shift in, ill be happyish)

Horrible little team aren't they? Never seen so much diving and whining.

See Mackail-Smith go right over his own face? That looked horrible, spines aren't meant to do that.

Yeah, I thought that. I wonder if he'll have a stiff neck in the morning.

when the ref made their player go to the other side of the pitch it was because he was not the one gettin subbed at the time -

IT was because he was off the pitch when the injury occured ,he came back on and parked himself down near the edge of the pen area, the only decent decision from the ref ,who was another ,of the "stealing the limelight brigade"

Their winger in the orange boots that went off injured. Went down everytime he touched the ball.

Craig Noone? That's usually because every time he touched the ball, we kicked the crap out of him! Until eventually he went of injured. He's their best player after Mack-Smith. Good old Deegan, best hatchet man we've had in a long time :)

We've had some shockers, but today's was the most inept ref of the season. He didn't have a scooby. Constantly shrugging and saying "I dunno." Highlight was after a knock, he forgot that it was a throw-in to us, and seemed poised to award a drop-ball, until the screams of "IT'S A THROW! YOU AWARDED A THROW!" from the crowd reminded him. What a twonk. Linesmen didn't help-I saw at least 6 throws that were blatantly mis-called.

It was the two or three times he awarded a free kick one way only to change his mind that did it for me. Totally incompetent.

Yes, that was also very irritating. And the amount of shirt-tugging and body-holding Juke put up with was even worse than usual.

Oh, and he failed to apply the advantage rule properly as well.

Brighton fans view:

I do not share this view at all. City looked good for the 2-0 and at times passed the ball with fluency and focus. I thought City's game plan was to own the Brighton players who have a reputation for being physical. We did that and deserved what we got today. Their fans seem pissed off because they lost against a shit team.

Let's put this into perspective, Coventry were poor. We were poor. We are missing a keeper (Angers was definitely at fault for the 2nd), we miss a midfielder who can control a game and we miss a striker who can score. This to me, and I suspect by many, is obvious. This was a winnable game.

We lack pace and quickness of thought as too often, our midfield slowed it down and they did not support CMS and Paynter adequately. Coventry had a game plan and worked hard for each other. They got men behind the ball when required as were they incisive when required. However, they were still poor.

We also have a problem with referees and the club need to sort it out. This must (MUST) come from Gus as he should lead by example. We picked up two bookings because of our past. Simple.

All in all, we have a lot to sort out. No goals in four games (and we didn't really look like scoring today), four defeats on the bounce and with tough games ahead. We have the players to do it but we are not playing to our strengths. I think the belief has deserted us.

Sour grapes; I really don't think an objective observer could have described us as poor today. David Bell was poor, sure, but I struggle to think of another City player who had a bad game and it was a coherent and attractive team performance.

Poor is Good for Belly. Ranks above Abject, Clueless, Pathetic, Embarrassing, Humiliating.... All of which have been working descriptions of some of his contributions this season. But, I think that David is a "Tryer" and in the last two games has demonstrated that he can contribute to a winning team. The most clear difference to play of late has been the teams efforts to play the ball to moving players rather than remain static and ponderous giving an illusion of control in meaningless possession passing to the nearest static man. This change in style does demand a need for players to have the ability to receive and control the ball whilst they are in motion - its a harder task for some of them such as David, but with practice I am sure he can kick on from "Poor" to another level on a consistent basis soon.

the bitterest pill is always the hardest to swallow realisation that brighton will be relegated this season as predicted

Think one of the main differences today was our pressing right up to their 18 yard line. They were forced into mistakes and aimless clearances. This normally happens to us so it was nice to see how effective it can be at the other end.
