Sky Blues manager switches training to allow for any loanees to work with the team ahead of Rochdale game
Steven Pressley is looking to boost his goal shy attack in the next 48 hours, in time to train and play against Rochdale at the Ricoh on Saturday.

The Coventry City boss is closing in on three players in total in the transfer window which closes at 11pm on Monday night, all of whom expect to be loan deals unless Gary Madine joins on a permanent move from Sheffield Wednesday.

And Pressley has even changed the players’ day off to enable any new recruits to train with the Sky Blues on Thursday and Friday ahead of the weekend’s home game.

“We need to bring in some additional players to add speed to our attacking,” said the manager, who is looking at the younger end of the market.

“We’re working hard on two or three and the one thing I will say is that they’re unlikely to be permanent deals because we’ve not got a transfer kitty, and I’ve made that perfectly clear.

“So we are looking at possible loan players which is not ideal but it’s important that we get loan players with a hunger and desire, and they’ll more than likely be younger players with that. So that’s the avenue we’re going down at this moment in time.”

Asked if he hopes to get them signed before the weekend, he said: “I hope so and we have changed the training schedule so that the players are off on Wednesday and in on Thursday, and the reason is that I would like to push a couple through in the next 48 hours so we can get them on the training ground and work with them on Thursday and Friday to implement our methods.”

He added: “We’re working hard on it and will work late into tonight to try to secure personnel into the building because at this moment in time there’s no doubt we’re a very thin squad and it’s important that we add to that.

“We’ve got two loan players and the maximum we can have in our matchday squad is five, so we are looking to bring in three players and I would like to bring in three attacking players.”

Although Madine’s situation is far from resolved, it’s understood that he would be one of the three coming in.

What about midfielders? Are we not buying midfielders any more?

I love "we need time with them to implement our methods" ,bloody brilliant.
well teaching these players our method should take 2.6 seconds, leaving the rest of the day on letting the players practice again on how to keep the ball going backwards.

Pressley does sound like a manager, he's just shit when putting it into practice.

What wrong with wingers these days? Or is nouble just staying out on the left a good move?

I really hope we don't sign Madine. The man is useless.

Madine is useless?

He is a class above h just needs to used correctly and you are right wingers would supply him properly.

Madine has looked poor to be honest. A big disappointment but when you look at his career he has had only one good season.

I genuinely just do not think he is getting used correctly. The longer that continues his confidence will drain.

Surely they don't need two training days to learn the methods.

- Here Lad, see the goal there?
- Sure.
- Fine, now practise not hitting it.

Well he says attacking players doesn't specifically mention strikers, I'd hope the players he is trying to bring in are more like wingers/attacking midfielders than more strikers.

If he's rearranged his training session he sounds quite hopeful of getting them within the next day or so.

Hope so as well. He is talking about speeding up the attack so that could be wingers.

Yep this. Quick wingers in and then Nouble can come off the wing and play up top. We definitely need much more creative players than we currently have. Also would like a bully of a midfielder, highly unlikely though I think.

Pressley is starting to sound like a sober Andy Thorn.

i used to cringe with embarrassment when Thorn was interviewed, I am sure he was drunk on most occasions.
Pressley must look into coaching manual comments and think I'm going to use that one today.

Please Steven shut the feck up , hardly anyone believes, or trusts , what methods your teaching at the moment

Who are the two loan players the CT article refers to? Jones and Pennington? I thought Penningtons loan was due to finish at the end of Jan.

They'll only be players that are not good enough to get in there own team so it's all very uninspiring. SPs record is shit when it comes to player's.

"implement our methods”

i'd prefer if they just rocked up at 2:50 on sat.

Really isnt much of a benefit having 2 days of being told to pass sideways or backwards and always stay behind the ball.

In Latin, that translates to.....

"Desperatio in omnibus respectibus". We should get that on our crest

Didn't think Pressley liked loans
We will end up with six or seven loan players again and only being able to play five.

Nothing will change until this 4:5:1 madness is changed to accommodate a holding Centre-forward backed up by a no 10 in close proximity.

Simples innit ??
