Howley got some minutes
Sheaf justified his new deal
We now definitely know we need to sell Dabo
Other teams around us dropped points
I got an earlier train back to London.

Any more?

Because everyone left early there was no queue to get out the car park at full time.

Apart from half the Stoke squad. Anyone checked if their number 9 is ok? He seemed to have some sort of problem, his legs kept giving way whenever one of our players touched him.

Sheaf justified his new deal?

He was one of the worst players on the pitch in the first half and was completely hiding. He was one of the better ones in the second granted, but it's pretty bittersweet considering.

I don't think any player comes out with any credit today. Maybe Biamou at half time.

The one positive is that despite a terrible performance and dreadful result we're still only 4 points off the top six.

Positives from the season, loads. Positives about play offs, zero. To be fair If you are going to fold at the pivotal moments then the play offs aren’t a great place to be anyway

Yeah I think so. He had a good game. Our issue is that without O’Hare or Palmer we win the ball and it’s Gyokeres and Godden running in behind and no options to feet. I think Sheaf and Hamer played as well as they could. This was a result waiting to happen with no real attacking midfield players.

What did you want him to do? He came on when we were 2-0 down. He’s 19.

Something would be nice, rather than slowly pondering around. What was Maddison doing at 19?

Who would you have brought on instead? Or would you have stuck with the same formation?

70 appearances, 20 odd goals, not just a lad that is playing because we have 3 players injured in his position. He will/should not be anywhere near the first team next season, so him getting minutes today was more due to us having fuck all else rather than the benefit of his development with us.

Is it not good he got minutes? Some players don’t walk into the first team at 18. Wilson was a slow burner, look at him now.

Maddison was a once in a generation talent and we can’t expect every youth player to achieve that level of success.

The best player in 30 years? All of of youth talent should be up to Championship level if they get there chance. Howley is nearly 20 and miles away.

Physicality in a game where our only tactic (first half), against a very big physical team, seemed to be to pump it long for Gyok to chase or Godden to try and head it.

did you have an alternative plan? I’d love to hear it.

Positives,…..My loaded Mexican steak at the Bull was cooked perfectly.
It wasn’t raining
Stoke didn’t take all their chances
Robins took it on the chin like a man and didn’t offer excuses.
The club made a few quid.
The rest was fucking shite

Greggs - I understand your point but unfortunately our academy is suffering as a result of many years in leagues 1 and 2, when young players would sooner sign for Brum clubs or Leicester. There is a lag and I fully expect in 3/4 years to have some good talent coming through, but we can’t expect our youth players to come and step in a la Maddison.
