Is this going to be the season for Haji Wright to have his best figures?

There’s been some negativity amongst us including myself, but ultimately the lad is our best finisher at the club by a country mile.

Been criticism of his form last season and especially in the play-offs, but if he stays clear of injuries this season he could have his best season with us? He really was hampered by the 2 injuries. Hopefully he’s in the clear.

Best goals p90 in the Championship last season by players who are still in the competition.

Tyrese Campbell - 0.57
Haji Wright - 0.55
Josh Sargent - 0.54

Key is to keep him fit and he could hit 20+ goals.

If he plays the full season as our out-and-out 9 I reckon he hits 15+ in the league.

I think it depends how we want to play as well.

The system hasn't really been the best for the centre forwards (bar Sunderland)

Big reason I want Torp to start ahead of sheaf. Just seems to be more willing and able to play the risky passes through the middle that Wright thrives on

I still think he was rushed back. You want your best finisher on the pitch going into the playoffs even if they are not fully fit. It was a gamble worth taking.

Fully fit season he gets 20+

No one can be guaranteed a fully fit season, and his injury last year came from a horrible landing so was unlucky. But there's no doubt he needs to prove himself now, the last 2 months of the season for him were pretty dross. I fact play offs we're appalling.

I think he had the best mins per goal ratio of anyone in the division for the regular season.

His horror show of a playoff campaign watered that stat down a bit.

This has to be the push from Lampard.

He has a competition for a place in that USMNT squad for a competition in his home country.

Play like he did in the play offs and he may not make the squad.

Probably the best player we have ability wise. On his day he really is at that level above most in this league, and I'm slightly surprised he is still here. The World Cup is coming up and you would think he could be a bit more ambitious and play at perhaps a higher level.

I guess injuries have set him back a bit, and I certainly have many questions over his performances at the end of last season. If it wasn't for that I can't see how he would still be here. Then again, if he can stay on it this season then that's a massive advantage for us.

Im banking on his working his arse off this year to represent his home in a once in a lifetime opportunity at the World Cup in America.

If not, I’m lost for why they play football in the first place outside of Mulah

Interesting thought, but I wonder if we will see him try extra hard this season as we have the world cup in the US.

Surely he will want to impress to be in that squad.

Needs to prove himself from the off the play off games and a few before them his lack of effort was plain for all to see.Needs to be strong and showing his worth starting from Saturday if we don't attract another CF there is alot riding on him.

Think he’ll be good, but he’ll try not to to be not too good as he won’t want to go to the World Cup - he’s already got a holiday booked in Mauritius for June 2026.

tbf simms said in a post that he wasnt happy with his own performance, im going to guess haji was on and off injured and still performed well. if we get both firing, and feed them correctly we should be golden.

really would like to see raph step away from the modelling and get some regular minutes this season feel like he will be a very tricky character to play against.

Obviously. He only played the equivalent of 22 90s last season.

Full season as a 9 I would expect more than that with his ability.

Nearly every player has a while out with injury, it's the nature of the game.

It all depends on which version of Haji we get to see.

The Haji that played the league match against Sunderland at the CBS will score a hatfull of goals.

The Haji we saw in the playoff games against Sunderland will get fuck all.

Im hoping his desire to get in the USA squad for the world cup will see him motivated to succeed.

Heart over head but I've bet an each way double on Vik/ Haji to be division top scorers, which I'm hoping isn't lost by the end of August through us selling Wright

Vik was 6-1 and Haji 16-1, so the double was 118-1. I put on two £5 singles and a £5 each way double. So £20 outlay for a possible payout of about £770 should they both come in

15 mins, and didn't have any ball to look sharp with tbf.

It's a bonus that hes back on the grass.
Hull game is definitely too soon, but hopefully on the bench.

On his day hes unquestionably a real handful, but he needs to be motivated to have an impact, maybe next summers world cup will be the motivation he needs.

This is why I’m hopeful as he’ll be fully motivated - he’ll want to go to the World Cup.

Imagine a decent champ season and good showing at the WC - we’ll get a great inflated fee next summer

Same applies for Rudoni if he gets his visa sorted.

He’s going to be 28 this season and I think the boat is sailing on us getting an inflated fee for him. There’s not even any transfer rumours of interest in him so far. He’ll have 1 year left on his contract after this season.
