Maxed out

With a bit of space, I can now say Saturday was an amazing away game. Took a while though.

Cheers x

Makes you wonder why they didn't play Dembele from the start.

Fantastic description of Max's goal and the celebrations that followed. Very high quality writing all round. Look forward to this every week - thank you Mint.

This is written so well it deserves another read - top class writing and captures both the goal and celebrations perfectly:

"Then we arrived at the moment of the game. There were five minutes remaining and neither side really looked on the cusp of stealing it. Zain, having another quiet game, strode forward, nimbly eluding a couple of hopeful challenges. He laid the ball off to the screaming Kelly, who had already spotted a retreating Maxime on the diagonal. We were looking through this move from behind, with Maxime the bisector almost blocking our view of Kelly. In classic sand wedge fashion, captain fantastic delivered a hovering specimen to Max who was now edging his way backwards into the box, seemingly making no adjustments to actually control this ball and lay it off to the approaching O’Hare, like a sensible striker.

No monsieur.

Before any of us could even question his decision, before we had really assessed his 90 degree angle and distance from goal, Max, having tried one earlier in the game, placed his left leg (perhaps it was the broken one) firmly into the ground and swung months and months of lonely recovery through his right leg, bulleting the ball into the near post before the keeper could even toss himself to the ground.

The way Max celebrated that goal gave me all kinds of goosebumps. Like we saw Jodi exorcise (oh so briefly) his demons at Southend away - watching Maxime lead the line like an absolute dragon slayer was enjoyable enough, but for him to cap it off with yet another internet-breaking worldie was a genuinely emotional moment for us fans who've missed not just his performances, but his atmosphere, so keenly."

Can only repeat earlier comments - it's fantastic writing. And very much enjoyed by a couple of mates who aren't even City fans.
