Apparently all the players are fit and doing well and Deegan did well in the beep tests so hopefully will be properly fit at the start of the season to see what he is made of. This is where they have to train http://yfrog.com/hso1hgij poor loves

Andy Thorn said no friendlies have been arranged for the Portugal trip.

I was in that exact part of Portugal last year, near there. Lots of golf courses and very very warm/humid. There was also lots of football being played, Tottenham and there were tournaments which invovled some big clubs.

Hopefully we have a good pre-season and everyone is fighting fit for the new season!

It's a fitness test where you run back and forth between 2 markers which are normally about 20 metres apart. You basically have to run to the other side before the bleep sounds and the bleep intervals decrease the longer you go on. Therefore you can start off by walking, but then proceed to jog, run, sprint etc.

its shuttle runs back and fourth over a short ish distance, I think about 20 or 25 meters. You have to do it in time beeps and the time between the beeps get shorter and shorter, so you start out slow and at the end your sprinting.

depending on when you drop out you get a score..... its not very much fun believe me..

Thanks, PWB. It sounds dreadful - especially in that heat.

Noooooooo!

I am glad the back stabbing mercenary has gone, and the team are bonding in Portugal, rather than having him stay and only affording a pre season trip to Whitley Common.

I know which I think will bond the team better

Beep test is alright. Not many people can complete it. Highest I've managed is 11.

God that thing - I remember doing it years ago. Certainly nothing like to level 11, in fact I thought I recalled that level 10 was equivalent to marathon running or something unless its changed (was about 15 years ago).

All I remember is that I didn't want to go out first as it was first out for 100 press-ups. Ass soon as the first guy dropped out about another six or so of us collapsed - all just waiting for someone else to lose

Yep, for real. I'd never heard of it before I read that report. Training methods have obviously changed since I last played any sport. Sorry.
