Even if they do somehow blag the parachute payments owed without being sued, it doesn't look like they'll see much of it -

Mr Birch added: ‘The parachute payments are through to 2014. Pompey is due about £14m. The problem is that we have football creditors. Old football creditors and ones still accruing. Out of that £14m there might be £7 – 10m of football creditors that will have to he paid.’

According to Birch's interview this evening, that's correct. The original non-football creditors who agreed 20p in the £1 first time round will now get 20% of their 20p, so 4p of their original debt!

One thing I've no idea of is if that could mean a further points penalty. Luton and Leeds were 2 clubs who got docked more points for not coming out of admin in the correct (?) way (I seem to remember Luton got docked extra points for not paying 100% of football creditor debts, they decided to pay HMRC first, now there's irony...).

The administrator sounded like he thinks the plug will be pulled on the club when he was on R5 yesterday.

Has anyone worked out the league table for after Pompey's record gets expunged? If Doncaster, Forest or Brizzle got anything aginst them, considering we didn't, we'd be laughing! Not as much as West Ham are, who lost to them twice. The final revenge on Southampton?

their captan, Lawrence, has gone to Cardiff on loan. They will receive a fee and not have to pay any of his wages, but they will need to do more. I suppose they will get more players on free loans to take over from players they get a fee for. Not looking good for them at all.

Did'nt West Ham take 6 points from them?I think Birch is playing to get them next years money ,which will possibly leave them about 4m.to clear the debts that have led to this admin ,it really is a disgrace that they hav'nt settled the previous CVA ,if they get through this they should lose all their points as far as i'm concerned, incidently our club are marketing a ticket for the final five @£75 beware ,we may not get to play one fixture ,so make sure you'll get your money back.

I am not sure if this is good or bad. Depends if other teams have played them twice or not. We will lose one of our remaining games if this happens and it's a home game many will have factored in 3 points.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17284836 ................ how can they be getting two new strikers in for the weekend!!! We get embargo for not submitting accounts...... they cant pay their bills, practically going out of business but they can apparently add to the protected football debt by signing two more strikers. Unbelievable!

So Coventry City gets a mention on a number comments from Portsmouth fans regarding the story to bring in some loan signings.

It looks like we have some allies down there.

Appy set to strike before Royals clash
http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/p...clash-1-3588976?commentssort=1&commentspage=0

“I wonder how Coventry will feel about this. Really does begger belief”

“we are allowed to be competative and to replace players as long as the overall wage bill lowers. That is what we are doing and it is inline with FL rules. Coventry cannot at the moment as they have nigh on 30 players. It may look like an uneven playing field to some but would West Ham and other promotion hunters want us weakened so we cannot compete with their rivals?”

“I have to say who cares what Coventry think. In the same situation I`m sure they would be reluctant to sign players for fear of upsetting Pompey. NOT!! Get real!”

“If i am not mistaken but didn't Brum take those players on loan before a transfer embargo was in place? also am i not mistaken but yes their history is questionable but they are still paying bills as they arrived. Also you may have noticed i never mentioned Brum but Coventry, they have been fielding youth players all season and not once questioned if they are competive”

“have you seen what their 30 player squad is made up of? Youth players etc, we chose not to do that and want to be competitive. Does not sit right with me that we bend the rules”

“Coventry are where they are because all season they have been paying thier bills, not paying ridicolous wages, not been out bidding other clubs in getting players, they sold thier striker inJanuary to keep thier heads above water, Doncaster done the same, i am sure Sharp or Jutwietz did not want to leave but knew that in going so they would help the clubs financially, we had bids for 3 of our players but none left. Doncaster and Coventry are not being competitive are they? Everyone are beating them, you don't hear them bleating on about being competitve, do you? Why should this club be treated any differently?”

“Coventry are under a transfer embargo so im led to beleive furthermore... i wouldnt rule them out being in administration before the season is out.”

“coventry are in a rightmess. i have several contacts on the playing staff at coventry they are up a certain creek.”

“i know they are up sh*tcreek, my dad is a Cov lad and a fan, but as it stands they are still able to pay bills.”

“first of all, what Pompey are about to do, i.e. sign a player on loan is legal, the FL have allowed it,and it is within their rules and regulations.......we have already been sanctioned and penalised enough for apparently straying outside those parameters. Coventry are under an embargo for failing to complete and submit mandatory paperwork, as are Birmingham City, they signed three or four players on loan before the embargo took effect on them, maybe that's a bit cynical of them, but it was perfectly legal, and as such we can have no cause for complaint........ what PFC are about to do is also perfectly legal and therefore Coventry can have no valid cause for complaint....we don't make therules, and we are not being given any special or preferential treatment here,so what coventry think about it is of no consequence and I certainly couldnt care less about them right now,”

“i agree with everything you say, trust me i do.All i am trying to get across is the fact that Coventry have found they have had to bring in thier youth players to get through the season, yet we seem reluctant to do so, because we deem it to be uncompetitive.”

“Didn't Coventry sell Lukas J and replace him with Alex Nimely on loan from Man City? I wouldn't exactly call thelikes of McSheffrey, Eastwood, Hermann, Clingan et al youth players either. They've got a core of experienced players with a large squad bloated withyouth, which is probably a better description. Doncaster sold Sharp as he had are lease clause which was activated. They've been picking up old pro's on frees all year as part of a sell-on policy”

“Coventry didnt have to bring in their youth players they chose too. They have or at least had a significantly bigger squad than ours.”

On the local radio news was a report that Pompey are to get £200K a month from the Football League. I don't know any details, but on the face of it this seems to be grossly unfair. Anybody know the full story?

Portsmouth to receive around £800,000 from Football League

Portsmouth's administrators have announced that the club may well see out the rest of the season after reaching an agreement to receive £800,000 from the Football League.
The financially stricken club are bottom of the Championship and had feared liquidation.

"This will go a long way towards plugging the club's financial gap," said administrator Trevor Birch.
Portsmouth's final game of the 2011-12 campaign is scheduled for 28 April.

Every club in the Championship gets this...it's the £2.5m annual payment from the Football League but drip fed to clubs over 12 months.

The figure for L1 clubs is about of a tenth of this, I believe (not sure, but a fraction of £2.5m)?

Pompey ‘should be able to finish rest of season’

THE Football League has agreed to release money to see Pompey through to the end of the season.

Administrator Trevor Birch has revealed that his efforts to get around £800,000 to keep the club afloat this season have been successful.

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/p...ld-be-able-to-finish-rest-of-season-1-3598825

this story about £800,000 has also been reported on Sky Sports News this morning.

IMO Where's their money coming from next year, because if they get their old owner Chainrai to take over he is only really interested in £17 million owed to him. I bet they don't clear out all their player during the summer and play their kids just like we have had to.

It pisses me off they were given a warning 2 years ago and everybody is bending over backward to help them. They are looking to pay their creditors '20p in the £' and they still owe older creditors from 2yrs ago which should work out they get only '4p in the £'. I would expect a lot of business not accept this deal theirfore the club may come out of Admin without a CVA - therefore more points deduction.

OSB i'm sure you may be able to put some more light onto this.

It will keep them on life support, but, much like CCFC, what happens after the end of the season hasn't really entered anyone's heads.

I think you're right there BSB.

I could accept the FL had advanced Pompey their summer months payments in order for them to complete this season's fixtures (pay the leccy bills etc), but if they then start loaning players in with that money, I might start thinking about striking down upon the FL with great vengeance and furious anger...

By loaning out Piquionne and Huseklepp, in theory they've cleared them off the wage bill till the end of the season, assuming that Doncaster and Birmingham are covering all of the salary. They then cover those departures by getting in 2 replacements on loan, with a 0% wage contribution and no other attached fees. Doesn't sound *that* unreasonable, if the assumptions are correct. If these loan signings come at absolutely zero cost to the club, then fine-if they're exploiting the league's generosity to make them, well
