My two penneth.

Having posted a few times on here it seems clear that quite a few fans would return if SISU were to build a new stadium close to the outskirts of the City.
I think this is giving momentum to the SISU idea of building a new stadium. If it was clear that the current attendance would not change if a new
stadium was built close to the city then no investors would come forward and SISU would be forced to re-negotiate to play at the Ricoh as building
a new stadium within the city would never get past the Council.

Here is a poll to get an idea of how many would return if a stadium were to be built.

If its outside the city's limits then its not Coventry City anymore and the club has died, so its a No from me , Just my opinion which given we live in a democracy I am allowed.

I'm still enjoying local football in South Norfolk, so I can see me sticking around here and watching Norwich or Ipswich for my professional football fix when needed, though I will never support another club ever.

I will become a casual general football watcher instead

I wouldn't go.

They've made no attempt to return to the city, and even if they did the council couldn't stop them.

For that its a no.

Can't see the poll on my phone but would depend on location.

hard to answer without knowing where the stadium is but my gut feeling is that there is no reason for us not to be playing in the City. Even if you say we won't play at the Ricoh again SISU have made no attempt to purchase a site for the new stadium in the city. It's one thing if we were forced to move or had nowhere else to play but to move outside the city just because SISU are trying to prove a point is crazy.

im never going again NOPM unless we get man city in the cup OBVS!!!

Ok, now I have satisfied the idiots, I think I have told myself I would go to just outside the border (for example ryton). But realistically it has to be in Coventry.

Wouldn't go to any Sisu owned stadium, wherever.
They have held the club to ransom, used and abused our city and it's people and I would never reward that.

I voted other, as in whats the point of answering until I know we will never return to the Ricoh, and until a new stadium is actually built rather than exist in SISU's make believe world.

Good idea mark_ccfc. It will be helpful for everyone to understand the spread of views on this question. This is my first entry on SBT and my joining was prompted by your post.

For me, the answer is the simple 'The clue is in the name': which isn't 'Just outside Coventry City' or 'Anywhere but Coventry City'. Even though I now live in Warwickshire having grown up down South, our club is Coventry born-and-bred and I am not going to watch 'home games' in a stadium outside the city limits.

That said, please could we all be respectful of each others' opinions and reasons? I know this whole subject raises our passions and rightly so, but each of us are 'true Sky Blues' whether we go into Sixfields, stand on the Hill (like me), attend away games or are not going at all.

I don't really understand the need for the stadium to be within the council boundary. Essentially it's just an arbitrary line on a map that can be re-drawn at any time.

Who knows, maybe the Ricoh will end up technically outside Coventry when the boundaries are re-drawn next?

As long as it's reasonably close to Coventry I'd be there as often as possible.

If it was Ryton on that big load of land opposite the training ground waiting for a stadium to be built ( joke ) i would go

For me anywhere in the club support catchment area would be OK like Leamington, Warwick or Rugby dont forget there are many supporters from these areas and always have been. The problem with Northampton apart from it not being in or around Cov is that they already have a team!

The Ricoh is as Far from the godiva statue as is Ryton ( well almost !)

I assume all these people with such strong morals would immediately stop attending the Ricoh if this happened whilst we were playing there.

An extremely weighted poll in favour of SISU. Where's the......No F**king chance as long as SISU are in charge and it's outside Coventry boundaries vote?

It's a good question. The equivalent is Edgbaston for Warwickshire CCC (and definitely NOT Birmingham Bears). Once within the county boundaries but not for a long time. It seems to me that if a location has an historic tie to the place in question (be it City or County) I could happily maintain that association - I would love to watch WCCC play in Coventry as they once used to even though Coventry was no longer in Warwicks. Ryton however has never been inside the City limits.

Would be better to get everyone to draw their acceptable areas on a map. Too many variables to have a multichoice question (note: I can't see the poll on my phone)

Another speculation poll. Until you know the location you can't make an informed decision.

Thought we had already done tis anyway?

I have met loads of people on away days this season and at least 30% of them have stated that they don't even feel the Ricoh is in Coventry..

Just food for thought on this topic.

3 pages so far and yet no one has been able to answer why a new ground needs to be outside the city?

There is no location in the City suitable to build a new Stadium and Academy Complex.

That area has been within the city boundaries since 1932.

Its as much Coventry as any of the city landmarks.
