I agree with the comments about Sisu. I am certainly no fan of them. Wasps simply should not be here. They belong to the community that helped to form them. Their roots are in the south east and 5hat is where they should play. Franchise clubs should not exist in either football code.

It's a dangerous precedent if they succeed too, will encourage other clubs in other sports to try similar.

Think the three that voted very positive to that poll need checking into the Caludon centre asap

I’m genuinely shocked any CCFC would have voted anything other than negative.

I hate London Wasps with a passion and how they got our stadium on the cheap, and on an incredibly long lease not offered to our club, infuriates me.
Can we have a poll on who we think will win Love Island.
I'm going for Ovie and India

This forum will be quite biased toward negative feelings toward Wasps.

To your average Coventarian and CCFC fan, probably a bit more positive.

I would certainly be very positive toward them had their presence not posed an existential threat to the one sports team I genuinely care about: Coventry City.

Trying to compose this message without every word being an expletive was very difficult.

Wasn’t their fault that CCC sold the ground built for the football club to them.

But the underhand way that they have systematically and snidely pushed CCFC out of the Ricoh is a scandal.

How CCC idly stood by and let it happen is equally abhorrent.

Don’t want to ever play at the Ricoh again.

It’s not our stadium.

I want WASPS to be relegated and to slip away as anonymously as they slipped into Coventry.

We are not playing in Coventry this season due to Wasps FFS!

You wonder how many more there are like this chap, surely more as time has gone on. He obviously underestimated the amount of local interest Wasps arrival would bring. Hopefully that is now permenantly on the wane.Wasps need to go back down their own end.

Neutral for me. Bigger things in life to worry about. I get that CCFC is peoples passion, it's never been that for me and never will be. Equally I'll never get worked up by Wasps being at the Ricoh, nor wound up if I see someone wearing their shirt in Cov. It genuinely baffles me that people can get so worked up over it.

And it genuinely baffles me that a supporter of CCFC can be that apathetic about a sporting club, not from the city, taking over the stadium and ultimately rendering us homeless. Trying to solely blame it on our owners doesn’t wash with me either. And “not my passion”... you’re talking like Utd and Liverpool fans I know who don’t go and have no historical affiliation with that city. Strange comments.

Look at the average attendances for Wasps, some of the highest in Europe. With only Leicester having a higher average attendance than Wasps. The people of Coventry (and surrounding areas) have taken to Wasps more enthusiastically than can be said of our football team. As much as it pains me to say.

Wasps came to Coventry with a bit of a circus around them, they had a good team, high profile players, top-class rugby. Frankly, there isn't a better sporting product the city of Coventry can actually offer in terms of quality. The reason I don't go is because of this business with Coventry City that was soured my mood toward Waps, as well as a closer affinity to Coventry RFC.

I'm talking as a rugby player who ought to be more positive about than your average person.

In football, yes.

The local ties to community aren’t as strong in rugby union. For example, London Irish play their home games in Reading and Wasps were playing in Wycombe for years before the RICOH switch.

How do you know it's the people of Coventry going to their games?

Their attendances are the highest in Europe other than Leicester, really? Are you sure?

How many times have thousands lined the street for them in Coventry?

The article from The Guardian, a few posts above, written by a Wasps fan, makes the exact opposite point. He talks about Wasps being rooted in London, about them being a real community club who punched above their weight. He accepted the move to Wycombe but felt that the move to Coventry was simply a way of telling their fans that they didn’t matter.
It also seemed to me that Cov didn’t matter either. The fact that the RFU allowed a senior team to move into a another senior team’s city showed a total lack of concern or care for CRFC.
Clubs are rooted in their community and should never be allowed to be removed from that community. I find it unbelievable that so many local people go to watch Wasps and buy the stuff associated with them. However, I think those particular roots are very shallow. Hopefully, the slump on the pitch continues and those “supporters” find better things to do on a Saturday and that Wasps find their way back to their own community.

How many free tickets are given away still? Friend mine says they can get many as they like via their own rugby club. The people of cov don't care about wasps, you may get the odd one or two and maybe a few more in satellite towns such as Kenilworth.

One of my neighbours has recently erected a flagpole with a Wasps flag on it. He and his family go to most home games (and I say "home" in the vaguest sense of the word).

The other thing that I find annoying is I would always turn over the CT whenever I was leaving a supermarket just to glance at the latest CCFC news on the back page. Now half the time it is the latest Wasps news on their back page. Another reason why I don't buy that newspaper anymore.

I'm a CCFC fan, I have been since the day my folks bought me my first kit as a kid, a season ticket holder for the last 10 years (bar the Northampton year) I'm far from a plastic Man U / Liverpool fan.
They're definitely not my passion though, my weekend / day / month isn't ruined or made by our result. I get that some people are like that, CCFC is their everything. It's not mine. If you think that's strange, thats fine with me.

As soon as CCFC are back at the Ricoh, whether that's with Wasps still as owners or not I'll be there. But whilst SISU are making decisions that means we are no longer in the city then I'll do something else with my Saturdays.

This is just horse shit. I sat around plenty of CCFC season ticket holders at the Ricoh last year that are also Wasps season ticket holders. To think that people in Coventry don't want to watch premiership rugby on their doorstep is ridiculously blinkered.

They shouldn't be here, its that simple. Rugby is not a franchise sport so their move is no different to Wimbledon moving to Milton Keynes.

I recall having an argument with Italia on here where he was claiming rugby fans supported the move. Spent some time looking at the forums of other rugby clubs and they were all massively against it. One of the most disappointing things was the general assumption the move would be a disaster as Coventry already had a club and therefore people who wanted to watch rugby would watch them and not Wasps.

The way the whole move was carried out was a disgrace. From the council making the initial approach to Wasps presenting it to their fans as a done deal to the lack of any consultation from CCC with the people of Coventry or those likely to be impacted such as CCFC and CRFC.

Thats before you even consider the BS coming from Wasps. Claiming it was move or die, claiming it was nothing to do with property development (then later describing themselves as a property development company with a rugby club attached), claiming the ground at Brentford which is a mile from their traditional home wasn't an option, promises of a new state of the art sports facility for the city, claiming they needed Higgs as their training base as it was near the Ricoh and the city centre when it is neither and so on.

Not to get into this agrument again what decision have Sisu taken this time to mean we aren't in Coventry? All the evidence points to the fact that wasps wanted indemnity which the football club could never afford if it happened (and wasps themselves have said that it wasn't the EU complaint that caused the breakdown of talks)... Don't get me wrong, in the past and especially with the move to Northampton Sisu have been utter c*nts but this time the ball (whatever shape it is) is solely in wasps court and they are to blame for us having to be outside of the city

I don't think that statement is true at all, whilst Wasps did get some good attendances, it seems to me like they're more often people from outside of the city.

I’d rather look at how their attendances have dwindled, almost plummeted. That’s much better viewing. And unless their shithouse club pulls off a miracle, will continue to drop.

The Premiership Rugby website has attendance stats and shows Wasps only having the 5th highest attendances in the league let alone the whole of Europe.

Yep, I do. But that decision isn't something that has just happened is it? It's something thats been a product of years and years of shitty litigation that has been brought about by SISU. You cannot get away from that. Our owners played a really REALLY risky game, with absolute disregard for the fans of CCFC and we are always the ones that suffer, no-one else. They've had their arses slapped numerous times and when offered a way out have refused to take it.
Not only is their relationship with the council past repair, they are doing the same with the only people that can offer them a "home" in a stadia that we all believe we deserve to play in.
It's a shitty, sorry situation that we're in. All sides have failed the fans of CCFC, but in my eyes if SISU weren't here we'd still be at the Ricoh this season and for years to come.

Weren't wasps involved before any litigation? Don't you find it strange they were involved with Hoffman as well and the risky games they played or the ones ACL did just before Sixfields?

Obviously sisu are at fault also with their litigation but you can always tell when people aren't really that bothered or following it closely they only really know what the telegraph tells them. It's why others have got away with things for years, even pre wasps move.

SISU could go tomorrow and Wasps will still be a negative thing, it was the day it was sold to them
