i think its quite clear that we have formation issues at the moment, Robins has given the players targets and expectations which has made them think and put them under some pressure.

Robins comments have made it clear that Clarke will have to pull up his socks as he probably thinks he is too comfortable in the team.

I think Edge needs to concentrate more in the game as he leaves Wood exposed. I think this pairing is the way forward they just have to keep working hard.

I'm happy Clarke and Christie are fighting for 1 spot, both have different attributes and competition is healthy

Jennings is better than what he is showing, he needs to be more confident in posession.

Moussa has to be given a set position as his role is changing too much

Mcsheff cant play in a 4-4-2, he has to score goals, he obviously knows this and he is much improved from the start of the season where he was an embaressment

Clarke, pull your finger out, simple

Elliott keep going

Bench lads put yourself in the picture there are spots up for grabs

Murphy, Adams, Bailey and Baker keep doing your thing

I think maybe we have to be more passive at home and look for the boring 1nil, we are clearly an excellent side but our weakness is our frontline isnt converting and we lack pace in centre of defence

I agree with most of the post but I think the boring 1-nil is not for me. I pay my money, I have started to get used to the entertainment dished up this season. No return to mediocrity for me.

Your point on Sheff is interesting, I agree he can't play in 4-4-2, like the vast majority in our team hence why we are impotent when playing it, but he's only scored 1 goal this season, v Pompey and hasn't scored as many as expected and I'm unsure if he deserves to start tbh.

I was thinking only yesterday that Gary Mac is so wasted out on the left... and of course I recognise that he isn't the player he was 5 years ago.. but still good enough to do a job up front in this league.....maybe?

Did he not get most of his goals for us / Bham back in the day from the Left Midfield position?

How can a pro footballer NOT play a 4-4-2 position?

How many on the squad aren't luxury players? We have too many of them.

He's changed as a footballer since then so has had to adapt his game.

Decent footballers, as 4-4-2 and triangular passing do not go together, the very tactic all of best teams, and why 4-2-3-1 came from 4-4-2. BTW, I mean footballers, not hoofballers (or 'kick and rush' players), cannot play in a 4-4-2, hence why no good teams abroad play it. Look how well England played v Brazil playing 4-3-3, a damn sight better than when we played, arguably, lesser teams in Euro 2012 playing... wait for it... 4-4-2. Football is a forever changing game, keep up, or be left behind, which this has happened to England.

I know I'll be met with disagreement, but the international football community agrees with me.

4-4-2 has had it's epoch in football's history, but it is dying and I feel it's only the older lot who have seen its previous success (40-30 years ago) and therefore want to stick with it or believe it's the way forward.

Hopefully the next generation of British coaches and fans move away from the traditional view so British football can move forward. BUT, I'm not holding my breathe.

I guess you'd say the same about Barcelona, or, because I know people will say 'we're not Barca', Swansea, Leon Britton went from getting relegated with Sheff U, to having a better pass % than Xavi!

But they aren't luxury players - they are players that work hard, do their defensive as well as attacking jobs and constantly affect the game. Not have 1 good 10 min spell then disappear for the rest of the match- that is a luxury player not someone who is skillful.

Leon Britton a luxury player? Ha, he's constantly in the game, everything Swansea do goes through him, and when he hasn't got te ball he works hard, keeps his defensive discipline, etc.

Barca? The pundits and analysts continually laud over how hard they work, pressing high, quickly and in numbers to win the ball back.

I don't think you understand the definition of the luxury player.

Yep and I'd also add Moussa to that list.

This is my problem with Barton. How on earth could he have played on Saturday? He would have got slaughtered.

This is the wrong division and type of football for him plain and simple in my opinion.

Barton is a silky skills type of player. I keep watching games and keep thinking whether he could have played or not, but there are so many physical sides in this division and he would constantly get outmuscled.

If we are playing against a footballing side then maybe he deserves a chance, but when you play the likes of Preston and Yeovil and Shrewsbury and Carlisle etc. etc. etc. you need more steel and strength.

As Stu says, too many luxury players and we simply cannot afford to have them all in our team.

McShuff, Mouss, Fleck, Barton.

Trouble is then, when you think we can only deploy 1 or 2 at most this then makes the depth of our midfield look rather thin when we are trying to play 5 in the middle.
