Hi everyone,

Here are the points that were needed to secure a top 6 finish over the last 8 seasons in League 1.

Ok so after 29 games we have 43 points. We have 17 games left.

73 points we need another 30 points 1.76 average per game
71 points we need another 28 points 1.64 average per game
80 points we need another 37 points 2.1 average per game
76 points we need another 33 points 1.94 average per game
75 points we need another 32 points 1.88 average per game

As you can see I would say if we averaged 2 points a game this will be enough to get into the top 6.

Think we can achieve this?

Here are the points needed over the last 8 years to finish 2nd.

93

Here are the amounts of points we would need to get those points with 17 games remaining with us on 43 points.

93 We would need another 50 points meaning we would need to average 2.94 points
92 We would need another 49 points meaning we would need to average 2.88 points
85 We would need another 42 points meaning we would need to average 2.47 points
89 We would need another 46 points meaning we would need to average 2.70 points
82 We would need another 39 points meaning we would need to average 2.29 points
86 We would need another 43 points meaning we would need to average 2.52 points

Since Mark Robins has joined the club he has took charge for 22 league games and has got us a total of 40 points meaning he has averaged 1.81 points per game.

If this record was keep up we would get an additional 31 points leaving us with 74 points. This would be mightily close to a top 6 finish!

It will be a massive ask to finish in the top 2! What do you guys think? Is it possible?

My personal thoughts are that the playoffs are a lot more realistic!

Interested to hear your thoughts!

Cheers

Rob

Automatic would likely require us to win 15 of our remaining 17 games. Very very unlikely.

Think we need to forget about the automatic places.

Let's get in the top 6, stay there and then see how close we are as the season wears on.

I don't think that should be the case, we should get in the playoffs ASAP, then take it 1 game at a time, and hopefully we give it right go, we're 13 off the top and tha isn't impossible to catch up with, I do believe Reading were in a similar, in fact worse off position than us.

If L. Clarke or Elliott (or another striker!) can start scoring a lot, I'm more than confident autos is achievable.

Positivity, positivity, positivity!

Strong rumours of Swindon going into admin. That would help bug time in securing playoffs
