Has it ever been confirmed by anyone at the club if that when they release the tickets details for the away games, are the bands always set so that everyone in the top band can get a ticket if they want one and then those in band 2 are reliant on take up from the first band and/or getting in first when its their turn?
Has there ever been a situation where those in the top band can't get a ticket if they try for one?

It hasn't been confirmed, but that's almost certainly the case.

Especially given the wide range the top bracket can be. For example for Sunderland, someone who has 1600 points could get a ticket and someone who has 2300 could miss out if there weren't enough tickets to cover all the top bracket.

It seems to be that everyone in the first window always gets one from what I've seen.

A lot of clubs tell you how many are in each band before each game, but we refuse (whether this is to do with SCs or not I can only speculate).

You could probably roughly work out how many are in each band by looking at the allocations all season and the opening band, but you'd also have to bear in mind moving bands...

I presuming that is the case also, I have always wondered why they don't release the number in each band as some other clubs do

It’s probably not possible to sell a game out in the first window. They’d be no point in points bands if it could. As the points totals change each week across the fanbase it’d be a bit of a pain to publish and update them. The FA do it for away members and have a tool where you can work out how many tickets are needed for someone to be on the right side of the 70/30% ballot but it only needs doing 6 or 7 times a year.

Like someone else above said, I think the reason they dont advertise how many people are in each bracket is probably down to tickets the club gives to staff and players and to supporters clubs.

For example, If we are given 1000 tickets by another club and know we have less than a thousand fans with say 2000+ points, but then the tickets sell out at 2100+ there will be kick off on socials towards the club to find out why. The club probably don't want that hassle.

No game has ever not made band 2 so life has enough worries without inventing any.

Not worried, just curious how they set it.

They can still buy a ticket as the bands widen, it just means your start time to buy is earlier the time when you can't buy is the same for everyone, when it's sold out.

Think the points system could be tweaked a bit.
why get 10 points for Sunderland away and get 20 points for WBA away on a Tuesday night.

Those that travel to the more unattractive fixtures because of distance, cost etc shouldnt be rewarded less points than those that only go to grounds just up the road like WBA, Oxford etc
