Any team can. We did. Norwich’s home form should yield 10-12 points.

If we lose all three, it certainly raises the question of whether making the playoffs is even worthwhile as all it'll show is that our chances of beating any potential opponent over two legs will be less than slim.

We need to show we can compete.

That's the run in for Bristol City. They're in 7th and on 53 points, 3 points behind us. To reach 71 points they need 6 wins from 10 games. They have 1st, 2nd and 3rd away with 4th and 6th at home. They just drew with Hull 1-1 at home against 10 men from the 14th minute.

Blackburn 52 points Middlesbrough 50 points. Both in poor form. Blackburn need 6 wins from 10 for 70 points. Middlesbrough need 7 wins from 10 for 71 points. I'd be very surprised if we need as many as 70 points for the playoffs. We're already on 56 points. 9 wins from the last 10. We only need 5 wins out of the next 10 to reach 71 points.

There's a good chance that just 1 point from our next 3 games could keep us in the top 6. Beat Derby then the playoffs start to look like a formality.

I think formality may be stretching it at this stage.

After watching Portsmouth yesterday vs Leeds, I doubt that game will be easy. Granted they are excellent at home and mediocre away, but they have a good manager and a decent squad for a newly promoted team.

I agree Portsmouth have done really really well this season. No won't be easy but it's at home and I fancy us more in that game than say Plymouth, Luton or Hull away based on those clubs likely to have a lot on games against us.

Need to carve 4 wins and a couple of draws. By the time we play Luton and Plymouth they might be relegated by then and Boro out of the play off picture. No doubt some tricky games in the last 10.

I think we should be getting points from the bold matches. A few wins from them and we'll get into the playoffs. I do feel we're in for a bit of a negative spell against these teams around us though.

The good thing about the teams around us though, is 3/4 of them are at home. My biggest worry is we've won so many now, at some point that run HAS to end. Can we manage another 10-13 games and keep winning (or at least not losing)?

He was making a return when Stoke equalised then it all went wrong in the 97th minute for him.

9 games left and we need to win 4 and draw 2 or win 5.

Our remaining fixtures have us play against 4 teams in the top 5 and 2 in the relegation fight and Boro fighting to get in the play offs.

We’ve got an immensely difficult run in. Our defence has started to become very leaky at the wrong time.

Do we have it in us to do this?

Personally, I think we’ll fall a few points short this season due to the poor start. Expectations will be to be challenging for the play-offs next season though.

We can only guess what we need. Bristol City seem to be our strongest competitor for a top 6 finish but they have a hard run in. They still have Burnley, WBA, Sunderland and Leeds and are 2 points behind us.

Blackburn and Middlesbrough are still in with a shout but they still have to play each other.

We’re going to need some results against the top 5. Let’s see what these players are really made of.

If we play (and defend) like that over the next few weeks it could result in 4 straight defeats which would surely end any playoff hopes.

Might have to revert to a back 5 and go more solid for the next three games.

I think we will get another 10 pts which will be a decent season given we only started playing a few months ago

We are giving teams 2 goals. With our run of fixtures it’s a worry now we could easily lose 4 on the bounce.

we need a reaction Saturday and a result.

My worry, as it has been all season, is not having adequate cover for key positions, especially a back up for MVE.

We also really need to avoid suspensions.

I think we are going to fall short unfortunately.

The wheels could quickly come off, what with tiredness, injury, suspensions and the fact we are now facing three of the best teams in the division.

I think we have to get something out of the Sunderland game.

A win would be fabulous of course and leave us in a good position for after the international break.

I think it's very precariously balanced right now.

By the international break we could be in 8th and we have the worst GD out of all our rivals.

I feel at this point we need to prove we are good enough and deserving in our performance levels. It is impressive to grind out results when not playing particularly well but that can only go on for so long. I can't remember many games that we have lost where we have been unlucky to do so. Most times when we have lost, we have been pretty awful. Performance levels over the season do not come close to the playoff final season. Now is the time to step up and no better context than against the top teams.
There should be lots to take away from the Derby performance and setup to make sure we get things right for the run-in. If we don't, then we don't deserve it.

Even if we don't go up, I'm excited to see what Lampard does with the squad over the summer.
I suspect we'll lose one or two players who we could get some money for (van Ewijk, Wright, Sheaf etc).

Saying that, I still think we're going to make the play offs this year, but then complete lottery about what happens then

Either way if we are in the Champ next season it will be an exciting one. If those players are sold that’s £40m coming in to invest in the squad and build the club further.

If we’re building a squad again can we get some technical quality this time and some balls?

8 games to go and we need 11 more points as a target to 70.

3 more wins and a couple of draws.

Just shows what a batshit league this is. Lost to Derby even if they only had two shots on target then outfought and outplayed Sunderland.
Pretty much shows no games are a foregone conclusion. Trying to predict results is really difficult and anything could happen in any of the games between now and the end of the season.
Think we just need to enjoy the ride, no matter the outcome.

Everyone knows it's a crazy league but every year we get same bullshit about favourable run ins and taking wins for granted etc

Looking back at Tuesday, yes we were fucking abysmal no question

But Derby have just won 3 on the spin. They will take points off other better sides aswell, there is always 1 team who puts in an escape out of nowhere, and seemingly, it's them this year

Eustuce is very good at this level. Look at Birmingham and Blackburn after he left.

We got unlucky that we played them now he’s got them going - a few weeks ago they were abject and losing to everyone

I don't see anyone below Middlesboro being able to now finish above us. Maybe Wednesday if they win tomorrow.

Derby were mid table for a lot of the early part of the season. I think they are definitely better than their position suggests.

It would be great to have top 6 secured before the last game on the 3rd May

sell out, party time in the sun.

I think 11 more points and it’s ours.
