Football as a product has been min-maxed by coaches and it’s slowly killing the game. The ball should be in play more, not less and it’s steadily decreasing.
I am a lot less confident now, HarryFrustrating as it is, you can take it as a backhanded compliment. If they were tonking us 3 or 4-0, hey would have been displaying all their skills and tricks. The fact that it was such a tight game, meant that they adopted the tactics that they did. Trafford (good keeper) doing what Ben Wilson does (a couple of seasons ago). It was frustrating, but I took a lot of positives from the game itself, in terms of how we didn't look outclassed against them on the pitch. Gives us hope for the next 3 home games if we play like that. Regarding the 3 away games, we need to turn up with a positive attitude. I think we'll beat Pompey - the other 5 games will be tricky. Think we may need 4 wins from the 6 to make it (possibly less, as long as we beat Boro and WBA)

I honestly believe we needed to still be in the top 6 after yesterday's round of games.
We have now been overtaken by two sides. Games against teams fighting for their lives at the bottom, can prove to be incredibly tough.
Hull, Plymouth and Luton could all prove to be very difficult games and then we have WBA (who we have a poor record against) and Middlesbrough, who have really hit excellent form at the right time.
It's going to be a very tough run-in and I can see us falling short, unfortunately.
No room for error and our goal difference could be a massive factor too. Our GD is the worst out of all the top 8 sides in this division.

I'm fairly relaxed about the player situation if we don't go up. For me MVE will be the biggest miss, as he's class. We would, however, have a decent squad to build around. Let's assume Sheaf, Wright and MVE go. Grimes is a ready made replacement for Sheaf. We will still have Tats, EMC, Rudoni, Simms, Torp, plus Vik's money, on top of the sales from the 3 departures, I can't see anything other than a positive season in the Championship next year (assuming we don't go up) We have no loans, so are not trying to replace them (like other clubs will have to). We know we will have to address some areas of the team, but with confidence in ST sales again next season, and the ability to attract players (Frank/CBS atmosphere) I'm already looking forward to it, regardless of the outcome of this.Our time has to be now. MVE makes Tats a better player and without him he looks 1/2 the player. His speed bails us out both defensively and going forward.
If you lose your best goal scorer it's really hard to replace those goals from the off. Whoever comes in has to hit the ground running and not take 1/2 a season to bed in.

The thrill of the game is us taking on Wolves in the FA Cup and tearing them apart with fabulous counterattacking football. Taking on Man U and putting them to to sword too
Ask any fan what their favourite games are and it will always be a match where we played brilliantly and played some great football.
I would really hate it if we just totally shithoused every game and played dour football.
It's a bit like how England have been. Not the shithousing, but scoring and then playing really negative football for the rest of the match, trying to protect the lead. Especially when you know the quality of players you have at your disposal.
Nothing wrong with fans wanting a proper game of football to watch.
And look at Leeds, I know they are faltering a bit now, but they have been tearing teams apart at times, with fast flowing, attacking football.

Imagine taking your kid to their first ever game and the difference between a really exciting win and a really dour, non-footballing 1 nil win.
Nothing can beat that joy on a kids face when we win and have played well to boot.

At the end of the day, it is all about balance and at times you do have to play quite dour football. But that shouldn't be the mantra and the plan to play like that every week.

FIFA isn't the issue here, it's the refereeing in this country. In the previous two world cups the refs have been perfectly happy to let play continue while some fanny rolls about in faux agony. Yes some of the decisions were appalling but you can't send off a whole team for gamesmanship when they haven't technically breached the rules
FIFA should have clamped down heavily on diving/faking injury decades ago by giving out hefty bans, but they are more worried about making sure the football gravy train keeps choo chooing
