Players unsure on new signings (1 Viewer)

After reading the interview with Jukebox, it seems the squad aren't sure if we will be getting any more players in. Scary thought.

"It is something we spoke about as a group when we first came back, that we will have a really tight dressing room this year,” he said.

“We are not sure if there will be any more new additions but it’s almost like we feel we can get stronger in the face of adversity a little bit, and we feel the squad will be a lot tighter for it. And hopefully that will help the performances.”

Yeah until the injuries set in.

We need 3 players in my opinion, two strikers and a wide man.

Well Thorn has said he needs a striker and is after players so I wouldent read too much into that.

Why does anyone think we are getting anyone else in, we're be lucky if we get one more! Sisu are not interested in spending any more money on this club, end of.

i can't see anybody coming, at the minute we have an average squad, short in a few areas though. I think the youth players will be needed to step up this season and cover any injuries or suspensions. As long as we don't have a huge injury list i think we'll be ok with what we have.

We NEED some players, our squad was already small but since the summer we have lost 8 players in King, Westwood, Gunnarsson, Carsley, OHalloran, Osbourne, Quirke and Mcindoe add to theat losing Doyle in January. We have only bought 2 players in.
Out of our current squad these are the only players up to scratch
Murphy, Turner, Mcpake, Wood, Cranie, Clingan, Mcsheffery, Juke, Hussey, Keogh. Players like Bell/Baker/Clarke/Cameron our good squad players and everyone else is not of championship standard Platt, Odonovan etc. or unproven youngsters
This is what we need imo cover for LB, 2 CM, Possibly a wide player if we want to change our style sometimes and 2 strikers.
I would seriously consider cashing in one of our CB but only if it can be put back into the team

we need a striker a left back and at least 2 more midfielders.

no more signings then we will be in serious trouble next season especially when we geta few injuries.

I agree with the other comments, I think the overall squad is not as bad as we think. Pretty much what we started with last season. But if we get a few injuries to key players like Juxy, Clingan we could be in real trouble

Everyone says we need a left back, yet we have 6 players capable of playing in that position. Hussey, Cranie, Turner, Wood, Clarke & Deegan.

& Wingers? There are no Wingers in the diamond formation. There are wide midfielders which we don't need to strengthen in.

At most now, we need a striker & that's it IMO.

Last season we struggled and even had to play Cranie at CM for a few games. Since then our squad has became considerably smaller. Also Hussey has only just come back from a ling injury lay off, would you be happy playing a player out of position for 3 months if another injury comes his way.
I said we could possibly buy a winger as a plan B, the Diamond will not work against every team in the league.
We need at least one new CM preferably 2. Gunnarsson is gone and players like Deegan and Thomas are unproven at this level.

I get a very strong feeling that young Gael Bigirimana will get his chance too this season-it sounds like he may already be close to Deegan and Thomas standard. Lets face it, if Deegan or Sammy aint fit, it'll be Bigirimana or Thomas starting. Bell and Baker together in the middle would be too lightweight, and with McSheffrey probably needed up front Baker or Bell may have to play in the "hole".

That's exactly why Stephen Sunday would be the perfect fit right now-a more proven and experienced version of all our unproven CM's, albeit a very young one with similar potential. But I'm clutching at straws, I don't think we'll get him or anyone else anytime soon.

If we were to buy a winger i cud se it being a right winger purely cuz mcsheff and baker can play left baker likes dribbling in field the tryin to a beat a man with pace! Our plan b will consist of 1 upfront i reckon and 3 behind and 2 sitting in midfield bit like how barca line up

Or 433 with 3 stretched, but very offensive, strikers. Platt or Lukas in the middle, McSheff, Baker or Freddy down either side, maybe Super Roy down the right (pace/can play wide). That's what AT tried before the diamond. The key is that Bell stays central so he can use his passing range and McSheffrey stays in an attacking role facing the opposition net, not defending a full-back.
