The previous thread on people wanting Clarke to return to our club go me thinking..... How many players successfully returned to their old club and done a job??? I am struggling to think of many!! Recently I can think of Fabregas with the Barca link (maybe a double return if he moves to the gunners)

Any come to mind??

Did Chelsea win anything this year?

Or do you mean another club?

No. Good point he wasn't successful but only person I could think of returning to a former club.

Hang on. Didn't Henry go back to arsenal for 6 months. Scored a few goals and left again. What a player btw.

Its got me thinking about players that left us and came back.

Gary McSheffrey, never the same second time round.
Garry Gillespie, a few fleeting appearances, I seem to recall him getting set off...was it at Leicester, and then jettisoned by the club after supposedly being offered a coaching role.
Gary Bannister , good as a youngster, and we got rid too early. Came back as a decent striker but with only moderate success, before he left again.
Mick Ferguson, as Grendel has already covered, only on loan but his goals kept us up. Then shafted by the club and sent back to the blouse.

Generally coming back is not a roaring success, but with regards to us I am sure there are many more. Any suggestions, and wheres Deano to add his knowledge?

Well remembered I had forgotten those three.

Well of the three I think Nillson probably did the best, and was wrongly sacked by McGinnity after derailing his promotion bid, by demoting Richard Money as coach and bringing in that utter prick Jim Smith as Coach.

The mind boggles at McGinnitys thinking with some of his decisions, I mean the Nillson sacking was not long before the Black one and bringing in the even bigger prick Peter Reid. I somehow feel glad he has had to pay some cash recently as a guarantor seeing as he cost the club so much money in payoffs to sacked managers.

Excellent think it was only something like a five game loan ....but he scored the goals to keep us up. I think he deserved a 1 year contact after that!

Yes - instead he got sent back to the club he managed to relegate with his goals he scored. Dreadful.

He is right
Mcallister, Leeds to Cov, to Liverpool then back to Cov.
Hall went to Stoke then came back.
Nilsson went to Helsinborg then came back.
Why the question mark?

I think the question mark is to see if anyone can think of more players who have left Cov and come back, and how have they done.

On our posts last night we sort of moved the thread onto looking at City players that we could recall who had come back and whether they did any good or not........sadly more often not.

Apart form the three above I think I had mentioned McSheffrey, Gillespie, Bannister and Ferguson.
