do you not understand football or have you not watched us this season. Biamou is a target man of which you need one in this division. Nazon has not won a header or held the ball up all year. We are a much better side when Biamou plays

Yes that's all well and good but he has to score as well. It's not as if he hasn't had chances. Hanson is a target man but also chips in with goals. You need to have both sides to your game.

I dont disagree but i am confident he will start scoring because he does have the chances and he did score a reasonable 15 last year in a league only 1 below this one. He just looks anxious in front of goal a bit like mcnulty did when he wasnt scoring.

As for vincenti im not quite sure how he made it as a footballer and beavons legs are long gone. Wont get any money but can free up wages

I think you've been a bit too confident there, if he keeps dong the work he's doing I personally will be happy with a return of 6/7 in all competitions from him this season as he was a cheap gamble from the conference and is gonna take time to adapt.
2018 needs to add goals to his game tho

I would like to see.....

K.Thomas leave on a free transfer or loan (wages)
Turnball loan to be made perm if possible
Beavon Free or Loan
Ponti and Dion KE to loaned if they are not going to play. ( I appreciate the risk involved in that but how the hell will they develop if they don’t get game time)
Reid made perm if poss

I think the Duck will try and get a loan to league 1
I wouldn’t be adverse to Mcnulty going but I can’t see that happening.
I would accept Willis been sold if it was for more than 500k and all of that was handed to MR.

In return for the above I would like to see
2 Strikers and 2 creative players 1 our abd our winger and one who can do both.

Biamou has not got a clue what he is doing , part of that his fault some also the way he is positioned . Scoring in ametuer football does not equate to professional football

He is a target man who is clueless , if he was any good he would have a clue. Yes he has laid some low tech passes for an assist but nothing a 12 year old could not do if they play football regularly, oh and of course he has fluffed many many chances which links back to he has no idea what he is doing which is why he has not scored in the league on 18 appearances.

Has the penny dropped for you yet ?

So you're adverse to a striker that is currently in form being replaced by another striker that may/may not even find the net...even if you're impartial to McNulty leaving where's the logic in that statement? There's no sense in fixing something that isn't broken.

McNulty has scored 5 goals in the league this season. The league is what we are really interested in and is the place where I want a striker scoring.
He has his qualities and adds pace and creativity to our team.
I would be happy for him to stay if we are still about to sign a more consistent goalscorer aswell.
However if we need his wages to sign one or two more consistent goalscorers and a winger. I personally wouldn’t have an issue with him going no.

He's scored 4 in the last 6 league games, he has now started to hit form and is scoring. Even the most prolific strikers go through lean spells, for example Adam Armstrong starting like a rocket, but scored just 1 goal in his last 13 games with us (scored 10 in his first 13 games)

You really don't like him do you?

And as a general (not at aimed at you) its not all about the strikers, the midfield aren't contributing enough, especially as we're playing a 4231 a lot of the time.

Bayliss 1 in 1
Doyle 1 in 22
Vincenti 1 in 15
Shipley 1 in 11
Stevenson 0 in 4
Kelly 0 in 18
DKE 1 in 10

As our main striker I don’t like him no, as a player I actually do and he one of the few that gets you off your seat and creates stuff.
I think throughout his career he has shown he is not a prolific striker.
I appreciate you don’t feel we need a prolific striker to get the automatics based on some teams that have done it in the past without such a player.
However I am basing it on us and the way we play.
People don’t want to jeapardise our defensive style of play.
Something has to give you either have to risk our defensive style and create a lot of chances for the likes of McNulty as we saw last week eventually he will score one.
Or you don’t risk your defensive strategy (Which I don’t think MR will) and you get someone in who is more deadly when the fewer chances fall their way.
However even with that we now also need an attacking creative player with Jones out.

My all round preference would be McNulty stays, Willis goes for a good fee.

We sign two creative winger types and a clinical goalscorer.

I think Shipley and Ponticelli will receive interest but stay.
Stevenson and Haynes are at the right point to sell.
I hope that we make peace with Reid and get him back into the squad, him Biamou and Vincenti are worth waiting for to turn good.
Beavon I’m not sure who would take him, or how much his wages are - but he’s probably best going. If Nazon doesn’t extend then I think we’re better off keeping him than recruiting a new loanee striker - 9/10 times loanee strikers are absolute shite

Mason is quality, I think he will want to try himself out in league 1 or bottom half of the championship for the 2nd half of the season unfortunately

imo hes a good player and will get 15 goals for us. partnering with a superstar would be good but if not it can still work as our main striker

We all want a 20+ scoring striker bringing in, it's the biggest cliche in football. However, so do the other 71 teams in the football league. At the moment McNulty is what we have unless a money tree pops out the top of the Jimmy Hill statue. McNulty's in a rich run of form at the minute so where's the issue in seeing how he fares for the second half of the season? Once again there's no guarantee any incoming player will hit the ground running, surely it's much safer sticking with a player than in form rather than bring a new face into the mix...

I understand your point, but it sounds like the position Mowbray took when he sold Vincelot for 'footballing reasons'. Selling one of your best players to free up funds does not guarantee better players will be brought in to replace them. The grass isn't always greener on the other side as they say...

Selling vincelot was ridiculous. An absolute invaluable player. A leader, a winner and a very versatile player.
To suggest he was past it was nuts

Mowbray could've done more to ensure he stayed, his fascination with the loan market was his penultimate peril. By not having the basis of a squad Vincelot knew we would struggle that season, hence why he engineered a move. Mowbray was lazy and the club payed for it.

The issue is not so much the top goalscorers but that the midfield is not chipping in.
Compare us to Luton... if 3 of our players that have 1 goal had got say 3 goals rather than just 1 then the league position would be much healthier.

I think we need to get away from saying Biamou is unlucky in front of goal as it is luck that is making him miss the goal it’s a lack of talent and ability it’s not as if he works the goalkeeper most just miss.

What if our top scorer had scored more than double what he has like theirs has.
That may have made a difference in a few games that we drew or narrowly lost aswell. Pretty sure that 4 point gap to the automatics wouldn’t exist

I personally think, after reading what MR’s said, that most of the players leaving will be leaving on loans. If we’re only bringing in loans, it’s stupid to get of players permanently.

As for people suggesting Vincenti or Biamou be shipped off. Ludicrous. Both players are getting a lot of 1st team game time - so either of them departing would likely weaken the depth of the squad. Meanwhile, we have K.Thomas and Beavon (whom I don’t mind tbf) who aren’t getting a lot of game time. Likely loans I think are the DKE twins and think it’ll be beneficial for them.

Can’t really see McDonald, Willis, Haynes or Stevenson leaving this window unless a team is willing to pay over the odds.

Yeah, but couldn't score against the meanest defence in the league though, could they? With all their goals between them. Losers.

This is really the point.

Only a simpleton would think a 20 goal striker would solve the problem.

There is a lack of goal scoring across the team. Two clubs have strikers who look like they will both have this fabled striker - both have scored 11 goals in the league already - both clubs are in the relegation zone as the overall contribution is poor.

McNulty has scored in as many league games as the mutch heralded James Collins after the opening game and he plays in a team that scores goals for fun. It’s hard to believe mcnulty wouldn’t score a lot more in their team.
