On Football Focus today they featured Jesse Lingard. It showed him doing his goal celebrations, very fancy stuff. It seems players don't just do a " Shearer" anymore. It doesn't bother me how they celebrate a goal, if a Cov player scores he can do what he likes. But can anyone remember an ex City player who went over the top when he netted ? Didn't Tommy Hutchison go for it ?

When city score I’m too busy celebrating the goal (usually with my son) to notice how the players celebrate

Same with me I never take much notice. I've been thinking of ex players and how they celebrated ? My favourite George Hudson if I recall just put his arm up. And Neil Martin put both arms up in the air, but that's about it.

Yes I think celebrations have become ever more elaborate. Back in the day one or two arms aloft and get on with it. Now a fully choreographed routine straight from the Strictly dance floor.

To be fair, our players don't get that fancy with celebrations. I can't remember the last time there was an over the top one.

I always wonder why managers tolerate the knee slide celebration, one day a player is going to get ligament damage and Eden Hazard has said it is telling on his knees (see link).
flipboard

My personal injury experience means I can't really adopt that position for long, at some point I messed up one of my knees and it soon becomes too painful to hold.

There was a Hamburg player who scored on the opening day of the season a couple of years back. He did some stupid celebration and ended up doing his ACL. A year out injured!

Good to see Hiwula went with the cupped ear to their fans
