Interesting. Sheaf: lots of passing (as we know) but a lot of them go astray (as we also know). Those numbers also indicate Collins is by far the better keeper out of the two.

Shots faced per 90
1. Brad Collins 4.93
2. Ben Wilson 3.72

this is the main issue, shjowing were getting nearly 5 goals a game on average, need to sort the defence out.

I think this shows Wilson has more command as the defence is more organised but Collins has done better at keeping them out

I don’t think it was Wilson commanding the defence when he was in the team. He generally played when Fadz did didn’t he?

Thats a good point actually, but Collins also played a small chunk with Fadz as well, obviously less sample size with him, but it shows the need for a leader maybe McNair would be a good signing

That can't be right. Palmer has no end product and Dasilva is the worst player ever.

Dasilva needs ridding of defensive duties, is what most have said.

Dasilva is good going forward and most have said is good as a wing back, but doesnt cut it as a full back when forced to defend as is targeted, however in an attacking team where the team dominates possession he would be fine at LB which is why I think some clubs are watching him because technically he is quite good

Doesn't help the argument of the Eccles haters either. Third most assists coming from our holding midfielder, but they didn't see any of those so they don't count.

How do you get that from those stats?

That is textbook, reading whatever you want from a statistic. MR has mentioned it enough times that our defending hasn’t been good enough, giving up 9 shots in the box against Ipswich is not all Collins fault.

Our defending last season was so much better and we had Ben Wilson in goal who equally had the ‘doesn’t command his area’ trope thrown his way. In fact, the only goalie in years gone by who has had control of it was Stockdale according to fans.

5. Ellis Simms 2728

Assuming this includes FA cup (goals scored does), then it seems a relatively modest total for the most active players in the squad. 42 games for Thomas and only 30 for Simms. There should have been plenty in the tank to cover the fixture congestion towards the end of the season.

I come to that conclusion due to the same defenders playing but looking more shaky with one in net than the other

I know, it’s madness. Eccles is a good player, the number of times it’s him who pops up to clear danger whilst still having the third highest number of assists and the highest number of key passes shows it.

I think Eccles has had a decent season but at least 2 of his assists were from the 7,000 corners he took at the start of the season.

The only downside to sheafs game is his shooting, anytime he gets it on the edge of the box you just know, it’s going into row z

Got it in him, he was top scorer for the U23s one season IIRC, or at least scored a few.

The club have Palmer on 8 assists.
Out of interest who had the most red cards? It would be rude to ignore a club record.
