Good news in terms of keeping the back 4 tied down to sensible length contracts.

I am stunned. I would guess there is a gentlemans agreement that if a reasonable offer comes along at a higher level we won't block him.

Good news. Let’s hope his niggling injury problems behind him.

Bit obvious isn't it? Both recent transfer windows gone by, he's been one of the main people attracting the most interest.
We can now ask for a bit more if teams are still interested now that his contract doesn't run out in June.

Is he better than ROD? Who will attract most interest in Jan?

What is great to see, is another player who wants to be here, even with the uncertainty of our clubs future, it's great to see.

Are you judging his entire season over one mistake in a game? lol

Predictable.

Doesn't explain why he wasn't sold in January though when Rotherham wanted to break their club record to buy him?

Sounds like they are buying into Mark Robins and what he says more than anything else.

Yep exactly this. I think they have seen some positive progress, and Robins seems to be getting some extra support that previous managers haven’t had.
A redo of the recruitment department, they have done up Ryton, apparent announcement on stadium sometime in December was it?
All players signed on 2 year deals.
Clearly making positive steps, not the finished articles, but for the first time in years players can look forwards rather than worrying about how much lower we can go.
A lot more positivity around the club.

But not enough interest for anyone to actually sign him. I think any "interest" tends to be generated on here and Twitter. He's an average lower league defender for me, nothing particularly special.

With this one, the actual other manager confirmed it all rather than just made up rumours in fairness.

Scouts at a higher level are sniffing around him. If he runs his contract down he gets a more choice.
However if he commits himself with an agreement that we won't stand in his way. As long as the deal is reasonable. It suits both parties.
Him as he gets security in case he suffers a drop in form or a long term injury.
Us as we get a better price.
Happens all the time.

was confirmed but ironically it was the first for me where we were saying no to him and Stevenson and I was thinking. For god sake say yes and give the manager the money to sign players that may keep us up. Those two wouldn't.
Guess it all depends o what in reality really was offered

He’ll be staying for the foreseeable future I think. If our asking price was too much in the summer, it’s only going to up with his form and extended contract length. Teams probably aren’t willing to pay more than 500k for a L2 centre back. I can’t see Rod or Willis leaving this season. They are too invaluable.

Rotherham offered £350k. We wanted 500k. Rotherham walked away.

And we should have taken it. Average player at this level and will do us a job with the right partner next to him which he has at the minute. Not good enough for L1 as was proved on numerous occasions last season.
