Yes Chaplin scored a clever free kick but was absolutely abysmal for the rest of the game. Bayliss was anonymous for most of it.

Looking forward to Sterling being back for Grimmer.

Hiwula looked sharp and on his game, dragged off. Robins has had a shocker there and cost us with his subs.

Every time Mason gets the ball he just aimlessly crosses it to no one as an attempt to not be dispossessed. Been happening for weeks

Burge - 5
Grimmer - 4: Touch is horrendous. Above his level this.
Davies - 5
Hyam - 5
Mason - 4

Bayliss - 5: Far too lightweight again.
Kelly - 6: not bad at times.
Thomas - 4: They read him like a book. Anonymous.
Bright: 6 - Down the middle he looked good. The moment he went out wide the game changed.
Hiwula - 5: So many chances missed. Some unlucky, some too predictable.
Chaplin - 6: Plus 2 for brilliant goal. Again, like Hiwula, chance after chance missed. He was unlucky at times.

Subs: JCH - 5: Caused a few problems.
Westbrooke and McCallum N/A.

Fact is, we're an okay football side with some okay players. We're not a good team because the forward line is so poor in front of goal. We could have easily been sitting in the play off spots with a goalscoring striker.

Bayliss did make some lovely passes in the first half.
His main failure this season is that he often shows too much of the ball to the opposition. It's like he hasn't adjusted to the fact that he's playing against better players - who are more likely to take it off him.
I still cant understand what was going through MRs mind with the subs.
I know hiwula missed a few chances but he looked like out most dangerous player.

Hiwula was at least taking decent shots and forcing decent saves from the keeper.

Luke Thomas was anonymous as well.

It's as if it was a "take the left midfielder off for JCH" default.

And what the hell is the point in keep taking Mason off for McCallum?

Was too late, we also looked as if we had no idea what to do from a long throw. The same as corners

100%. However, a long throw is so much more threatening than a corner.

The problem is, in the air, we are woeful.

Burge - 6, need to watch the goals again but didn't seem to be at fault

Grimmer - 6, not sure why everyone is so keen to write Jack off, didn't look out of place to me.
Davies - 6
Hyam - 6
Mason - 6, crosses not the best today but looked ok defensively. Always looking to overlap.

Bayliss - 6: Looks a level above at times. Great first half.
Kelly - 6: Ok.
Thomas - 5: Not on his best form at the minute but with Bright, Bayliss and Hiwula we're not so reliant on young Luke to create chances.

Bright: 6 - Some high quality moments in the first half and very exciting running at defenders from deep.
Hiwula - 6 Ok should have scored but highly decent first half.
Chaplin - 6: More advanced than I've seen him play for us. Formation seemed to work nicely for Connor in the first half.

Subs: JCH - 5: usually makes an impact off the bench. Today his introduction really didn't do us any favours in terms of our shape. Build up play suffers with JCH as we tend to launch it up the park.

Frustrating day as the performance until their first goal was very promising and good to watch. As others have said the change of formation and focus with JCH's introduction cost us. And as always we missed Willis.

Burge 6
Grimmer 4 looked a 2nd division player
Hyam 6
Davies 6
Mason 6 crosses could be better but defended well.
Thomas 5 had the day off
Bayliss first half 7 played some good football 2nd half 3 absolutely useless.
Kelly 6
Hiwula 7 having a good game having decent shots and for me was our best player.
Bright 6 really good game till the subs then out of it.
Chaplin 5 brilliant goal but I can’t see what else he iffers other than free kicks.
JCH 5 didn’t have much of an impact.
Robins 3 He made the chance that cost us the game.
Overall really disappointing we have played the bottom 2 clubs off the park missed roughly 10 really good chances taken 1 point. We really need to find someone who can start to convert some of these chances.
Who

Yep about right although I would have had Hyam slightly higher than Davies.

Lost the game in the first half imo.
Should have been out of sight! 2 to 3 goals to the good minimum. Gave them a footballing lesson. Seemed like we we absolutely dominated possession and had chances but for their keeper who imo should have been motm.

We were also unlucky with injury...what happened to Sterling or Willis? Didn't help cause.

Can't fault tactics or team first half..apart from the obvious lacking goals.

2nd half I'm afraid Chaplin should have had a hatrick. Seems just can't score from open play unless it's a yard out!

Bitterly disappointed.

Burge 6
Grimmer 6
Hyam 7
Davies 6
Mason 5
Hiwula 6
Bayliss 6
Kelly 7
Thomas 6
Bright 7
Chaplin 5....good free kick but again a complete let down...two gilt edged chances in last 5 mins.

JCH 3...very very disappointed...doesn't seem interested. Looked lethargic.
Should not have taken Hiwula off. Should have been Chaplin.

Burge 5 -nervy, poor kicking and poor decision making
Mason 5 -struggled but had no cover
Grimmer 6- ok
Hyam 7-ok
Davies 7- sure he’d have come off after turning his ankle but stayed on an no central defender on the bench. Fair play to him
Kelly 7- ran the first half. Ok in second
Bayliss 7- created a fair bit
Bright 5- flattered to deceive. Held the ball too long and faded.
Hiwula 6- looked good in first half but has to take chances.
Thomas- 5 poor game
Chaplin 6- great goal but has to score 1 on 1

JCH 6
Robins should have taken off bright and left hiwula on and the same with Bayliss when he went off. Their keeper had a great game. We couldn’t get near to lameires today. He was fantastic. Shame it was for Plymouth and not us.

Burge 5 (not really sure what was going on for their second)
Grimmer 5 (usual struggle in his comeback game, as ever kept going though, he or Davies v poor for their first)
Davies 5 (first goal, personally I think he's poor at this level)
Hyam 7 usual calm performance
Mason 6 (Did well going forward, should he have done more for their second?)
Thomas 7
Kelly 7
Bayliss 7 (He is classy, be surprised if he is still ours 1st Feb)
Bright 6 (nice ball skills but not that much else)
Chaplin 7 (great goal, good movement all day just needs a break)
Hiwula 6 (needs to lift his head up when running into the area)

JCH 6 - his into coincided with their goals, not his fault but seemed to work better with Chaplin than of late

(Others too late really)

PS: Lameiras' appetite for the game was the difference, if he showed that application regularly he'd be playing at a higher level. Fist touch is immense

He was poor last week. Neither are experienced enough.

Looking at the team even on paper the defence looked poor. Grimmer hasn’t hardly played, mason looks inexperienced and Davies overrated.

Burge is going backwards at a rate of knots as well

I don’t know what Brown has done but he’s a paid professional and it’s inconceivable that he’s not even considered anymore

That’s what gets me aswell-Brown was just starting to come to the fore and making his mark and then is bombed out and hasn’t been seen since.
