Bayliss and Grimmer the highest ratings?

Agree with Eccles, he needs to keep it simple.

Jones and Shipley looked worse than the kids.

Burroughs and McCallum looked like they might be decent though.

Yeah Thompson , Burroughs and mccallum all look like they have something about them, size wise, and technically

I’m not a Shipley basher I like him in the team for his mobility and he does create things , but he was awful tonight

Agree that Thompson and McCallum and Burroughs gave a good account of themselves. Jones got better with McCallums introduction. Must admit, thought Eccles was fairly poor. The few times Ngandu got on the ball he looked okay and had an eye for a pass. We lost the midfield battle completely, Maddox was a very tidy player and we grew into the game after his departure. Shipley was really, really poor.

Pretty awful game. I liked the look of Burroughs when he came on, but otherwise nobody really had a good game. While I'm not convinced yet by Bakayoko I would give him a little leeway tonight though, because we left him completely isolated with nothing to feed off.

Jones & Shipley are both 21 and still pretty much are kids - in fact moremains of the team is older than them.

Actually igore that 4 older 4 younger and 1 unsure but even so Shippers only a year so hardly seasoned pro, mostly at a level lower and Jones coming back from a seriots injury. I know you weren't having a pop, just puttinh a bit of perspective on it.

LOB 6 (showed his shot stopping ability)
Grimmer 6 (slowly getting back his fitness)
Williams 5.5 (improved after a shaky start)
Thompson 6 (a far more assured performance in his normal position)
Mason 5 (looked overwhelmed by their winger at times)
Eccles 5 (sometimes out muscled and gave the ball away too often)
Bayliss 6 (only saw flashes of his ability)
Shipley 4 (looked to me like he was carrying an injury - poor)
Ngandu 5 (tried hard but, like Eccles he was outplayed at times)
Jones 5 (started the game well, but soon faded. Nowhere near fit enough to start)
Baka 5.5 (completely isolated up front)

McCallum 7 (didn't put a foot wrong - impressive)
Burroughs 7 (gave us mid-field control and passed intelligently - also impressive)
Hickman 5.5 (tried hard, but didn't pose too much of a threat)

I’d agree except for Hickman who, along with Burroughs upped our tempo and attacking intent. I’d have rated him 7 too.

Really OTT ratings. Thompson had a decent game for a start.

they had a few chances where ref pulled it up for shirt pulling etc in the box, imo we got lucky with those. they got higher ratings than other outfield players if you notice.

Thinks these are pretty fair really, would up Jody to at 6 at least as I thought he came back into the game late in the second half and his commitment is there to see.

I'd also up LOB rating just down the way he was leaping over the barriers to get the ball back! What sort of football ground doesn't have ball boys?

You're correct re Shipley. Rolled his ankle in the warm up and had to battle through the 90. Not sure why he didn't start on the bench or get subbed considering the manner in which MR approached the game.

Thanks - that does a lot to explain his performance. Strange that he played 90 mins with an injury like that.

Was going to do my own ratings but shan't now because this is what I wanted to say. Good work Pete!

I'd give Jones a bit more though - 5.5 or 6 maybe.

Your point about Eccles is so invalid haha how can you say he gave the ball away too often when he attempted 51 passes and completed 46, that’s 90% pass accuracy on his first team debut........

That would be a fair point if I was referring to his passing. He was out muscled / out thought while on the ball, thus giving the ball away and losing possession as a result. Sorry, I thought I'd made that clear.

No it wasn’t clear that’s why I offered u some insight to his passing stats. He’s gotta get more game time as he’s class and one for the future

Couldn’t see it when I seen him play-but fair play to him on his contract etc. I thought you were a better player.
