The fact that Doyle plays the quarterback role somes it up for me. He couldn't do it 10 years ago and I guarantee that wasn't his role for Portsmouth. Break up play, niggle, hassle, pass it off to the creative players let them do the work. If we're relying on Doyle being our Kevin de brunyne, we might as well just go home now
Have to agree with your comments, although I think youve been a bit generous with the marks.Burge - 4 - Had 1 thing to do, messed it up.
Grimmer - 5 - Put some crosses in and did try and get up the wing a bit.
McDonald - 5 - A bit shaky today, not too much to do though
Willis - 5 - As above
Stokes - 5 - Doesnt really offer much going forward, not much to do
Doyle - 5 - Its doing my head in how he has our quarter back, it is as if every play needs to go through him. If he is going to sit deep and try that then let Kelly push on.
Kelly - 5 - He did his usual today of doing what he needs to do, breaking down play and some good passes while going unnoticed
Jones - 5 - Awful decision making, too greedy
McNulty - 5 - Cant really make my mind up, he was also making runs into space while not really doing anything. A bit like a poor mans Beavon.
Biamou - 5 - Even though he missed the 2 headers, he was part of setting up our other good chances and we looked less threatening when he went off as we were more direct.
Duck - 5 - As per Jones, absolutely awful touch tonight and wanted to score a worldie rather than a simple pass
Ponticelli - 5 - He was running, making space, holding back and then making runs but nobody tried to pick him out. I thought it was too late really to bring him on and would have brought him on for Nazon as we went more direct and he didn't have a chance.
Shipley - NA - Didnt do much at all, strange change to bring him on
Robins - 0 - Looked lost stood there with his hands in his pockets. Knew full well they would park the bus but defended from the off, even at 70 minutes at 1-0 down he had Kelly and Doyle sitting way too deep. Waited far too long with his subs and had Vincenti out warming up for the last 10 - 15 minutes while we chased the game.
You know it's bad when we're clamouring for Haynes to be played! All Accrington game he got played in that John fleck role. Tbf to him there was nothing on at all but jeez we can't rely on Doyle to play that. That's like relying on Kelly Evans to win the flick on at the near post. Kelly is the man from what I've seen. Let him dictate. Stevenson was supposed to be the class ball player, what the hells happened to him? This team needs Ryan Haynes more than ever now, he's the only one other than jones who will get the ball and actually run with it
We slide further into obscurity

Grimmer, Doyle, Nazon and Jones? I guess passing isn't high on your list of attributes for a footballer?!Struggling with some of these comments, from what I've seen tonight we have 4 decent players. Grimmer, Doyle, Nazon and Jones. The rest are bang average and offer little. McDonald is ok but there is a dearth of talent beyond that. Burge is just an accident waiting to happen and Biamou is gash ! I feel for people expected to return all winter to watch that offering.
Yeah this. Thought Grimmer was a 7 , Doyle, Nazon,Jones and Rodney Mac 6.Struggling with some of these comments, from what I've seen tonight we have 4 decent players. Grimmer, Doyle, Nazon and Jones. I'd watch a re run of it if you couldn't see who was making things happen. I'm not saying they were world beaters but still shone out from the other dross.Grimmer, Doyle, Nazon and Jones? I guess passing isn't high on your list of attributes for a footballer?!

They rarely had options and therein lies the problems.Making things happen isn't shoot as soon as they get it, from wherever they were. Consistently took the wrong option.

Newport was the first time this season we'd come up against a team who defended deep from the edge of their own area. Since then we've also had Yeovil, Chesterfield, Barnet, Accrington Forest Green where the run of the games have almost been identical. It's half our games this season now where we've just done the same thing over and over again and expected different results - the very definition of insanity. Do you still think that Robins has been a step ahead of opposing managers?Today’s performance or lack of Was exactly the same as the Newport Game, We were worse against Newport trust me, in that whole match we couldn’t string two passes together not from anyone.
It just goes to show players /teams at this level will have days like this where everyone looked crap. All teams , look at the top three teams last year in league 2 all lost more than 11 games.
It’s this level we are at. Get used to it quick. Reality check.

Im eating humble pie mate. But still i think theres a method behind his thinking. But only he can see it.
Totally agree with that and would love to ask him what it is. He even pushed Doyle up yesterday instead of Kelly after the break, his decisions are mystifying. He needs to be brave now and press the reset button, admit it's not working and go back to the drawing board. I'll be straight off his back on Saturday if he picks a revised team/shape as he'll have showed he's recognised it and trying at least to fix it, even if we lose again.Im eating humble pie mate. Cold light of the day is we are still 8th.It seems to be to hope we can score a shot from long distance and then keep it tight for the win.
Agree with all but Doyle, think he's terrible & had he not had his previous stint at City would be slaughtered. Other three I agree with and would add McDonald in as you mentioned. I find it unbelievable that there are people slating Nazon & Jones then saying Biamou has done okay, genuinely staggered. Having said that booing him as he was subbed yesterday is nothing short of disgraceful.Struggling with some of these comments, from what I've seen tonight we have 4 decent players.
