Allsop-7- made some decent saves today, and handling and kicking were generally good, would keep him on loan due to his recent upturn in form.
phillips-8- was good as usual, didn't get beaten really, he got forward well and considering he hasn't trained in a month he has to get a high score. Sad to see he is injured again.
pennigton-9- my motm, he was quality today, got his head to everything, seemed to be the general of the back four. He was composed with the ball and he put some quality balls into the corner for the attackers. Would like to see ,ore of him at CB.
Willis-8- he like Pennington was fantastic, got his head to everything some decent challenges and these two seemed to work very well together despite their age.
Haynes-6- nothing special but did nothing wrong, seems to have lost his confidence to beat a man, and you can see teams target him with long balls, but he is improving and he did okay today. Part of a solid back four.
fleck-8- seemed to be back to his usual self, some neat touches, and some great passing, made some decent challanges.
thomas-8- hurrah a good performance, he made some great tackles today and kept things ticking over, keep it up!!! Fleck seems to play better with him as well.
JOB-7/8- what a goal, absolutely stunning, won the penalty as well and got the assist. Put in the hard yards as usual. Well done captain.
Jackson-7-he runs the lines well, and pressed the lines well and a lot of neat touches, showed some pace and like the way he has proved himself.
nouble- 7- needs to learn the release the ball earlier and pass more, but when he tries he is quality, he beat his man a few times and won a fair few set peices. Needs to be less greedy.
tudgay-8- showed what he could do today, held the ball up fantastically, could have let his head drop after that shocking pen, but he worked for the team and was unlucky to hit the bar. And his header for the goal was great for such a small bloke.

subs: didn't so much but Barton did give a greater degree of control.

pressley- he has to take the plaudits today it was bold to put tudgay in and he paid off. The system is working well and if we can get some new players in we can look forwards to the rest of the season?

Allsop 9 - best game in a city shirt by far commanded his area and was a pair of safe hands behind a young back 4 which must have gave them confidence. Once dodgey moment when he "fingered" the ball which prevents him from a 10

Phillips 8 - very good performance can't remember him being beaten once worked well with Pennington. Got forward well but can't remember too many occasions where he took anyone on down the line just a solid defensive performance

Pennington 9 - won everything in the air all game. Nothing was getting past him and for a young lad he looked like he had been around for years. Solid display

Willis 8 - was the leader of the back four commanded them well won almost everything in the air, played some good passes to start off our attacking moves. Did the basics very well which was what we needed from him nothing fancy

Haynes 8 - back to his best linked up very well with nouble, got caught out in attacking positions once or twice but akways recovered well and got back. Worked tirelessly up and down that line. Really did well last 15 when Walsall were tiring

Super O'brien 10 mom - 100% commitment 100% work rate 100% passion, stunning goal, quality delivery for the second

Thomas 7 - was solid not spectacular. Like Willis he did the basics well. Lost the ball in bad areas once or twice, played some good balls through to tudgay to run onto

Fleck 6 - some very good runs today played the ball into good areas ..... But can't remember him doing much to be honest if someone can tell me differnt I'll change the rating it may just be my memory of the game

Nouble 9 - best performance in a city shirt caused all sorts of problems for them him and Haynes where akways a danger worked back well. Should have been a 10 but was greedy on a few occasions when he should have player the ball. Looks like he's leaving after giving his shirt away at the end upon pressley instruction

Jackson 6 - I don't want to say worst player because he was ok but the performance of everyone else made him look not at his best

Tudgay 8 - poor penalty to start off with but that only spurred him on, fully commuter performance worked tirelessly running onto through balls. Took his goal well and held the ball up throughout the game fantasticly. Wouldnt get rid just yet give him another chance against Swindon

Pressley 10 - tactics spot on subs worked out well all round a good day for him

Sky blue army 10 as always very vocal and a great following

Allsop 8- kept another clean sheet, I think he's quite a lucky rather good keeper at a the moment

Phillips 8 did well but worried he'll be out for a while again with recurrence of knee injury

Pennington 9 motm diff class out there. Lead the defence, won all headers, read the game well, brought the ball out from the back, class, we need to keep this lad till end of the season.

Willis 8 kept it simple.

Haynes 7.

Fleck 8 was back to his best first half he was everywhere. He def plays better with Thomas than wih anyone else

Thomas 7 don't know what he does to fleck but needs to play because of it

O'brien 9 what a goal
Jackson 7
Nouble 7 needs to learn that if he's playing wide he can still go in the box
Tudgay 8 shocking pen , but is our best hold up man even madine can't hold the ball and link it aswell

Maybe I am being cynical here, but Tudgay has previously hardly broken sweat and has looked disinterested for us. Could yesterday's really good effort be down to our letting him go and his wanting to attract a new club?

I would say tudgay showed glimpses of what he showed yesterday earlier In the season tbf. He was showing brilliant control and touches early in the season as well but then faded off and couldn't really show his finishing because of the lack of chances we created in the 5-3-2, with this the first time tudgay has played in a more attacking city line up.

Actually, I thought Fleck and Thomas in the middle were excellent yesterday. They got stuck in, delivered the passes, controlled the game I'd say. Flecks shot in the first half, if it had just been to the far side of the keeper he'd have had problems! Tudgay was brilliant. Like others have said, could've let his head drop. But he carried on, got the flick ons, worked hard and held it up well. Deserved his goal. Jackson and Nouble were brilliant for outlets. As somebody else pointed out, brilliant team performance. I was impressed with everyone and apart from the first 15 mins in the 2nd half we were the better team.
